Amazon Kindle Fire – Tablet prices come tumbling down!

Amazon just lit a fire didn’t they? They just brought to bear a tablet for under $200. Sure, it has a smaller screen, less memory and less features of its direct competitor, the iPad, but does that really matter? It’s a full color, fully functional tablet that lets you play games, watch movies and browse the web. It even has Flash. It has the full backing of Amazon and it’s cloud video and music service. Further, it doesn’t require a USB cable or other “tethering” to activate. It might be a bit lighter on features, but might it be more convenient? Time will tell. But as we saw with the TouchPad, at this price, the Kindle Fire will be flying off the shelves. I couldn’t resist buying one for myself. That’s a damn good e-reader for the price (I want full color) so even it doesn’t shape up to be greatest device in the world, it’s still cheaper than an […]

Oregon Trail – Free for a limited time

In preparation for Oregon Trail – American Settler, Gameloft is giving away copies of their original Oregon Trail. You can get all the fun of dysentery for free! Keep in mind though, Gameloft just released an update that allows you to purchase buildings and access the general store from anywhere. It sounds great, but they also turned on in-app purchases which I hate. I haven’t actually played the updated version yet so I can’t say how it works. I’ll be jumping into it later on the iPad. But for now, you can give it a shot for free! LIMITED TIME GIVEAWAY! A new journey is just over the horizon! The Oregon Trail: American Settler is coming soon to the App Store and we want to get everyone back in the adventuring spirit by making the original game absolutely FREE for just a few days! Even more stuff to take you further on The Oregon Trail! – Access the Store any […]

I still don’t understand the big deal with Netflix

I don’t get what’s going on here. Netflix raises it rates and people lose their pants. What for? What company hasn’t raised their prices over the last couple years? Considering the fee Netflix has to pay it’s amazing they haven’t raised their prices more frequently and by even more. I think splitting streaming and DVDs into two businesses is a dumb idea, but complaining about a price hike of a couple dollars a month is stupid. Bloody hell, people spend more money on Starbucks, Energy drinks and freaking doughnuts in a week than the price went up per month. Quit your damn whining.

The Tablet, what is it good for?

I came across an article, I forget the link, that says the iPad is boring and doesn’t serve to increase productivity in the slightest. Its basic intent is to bleed you dry one app purchase at a time. A few interesting points and some of them are valid. There is no doubt the iPad was built to make money off apps. Without apps the iPad doesn’t do anything. But, is that really a problem? Sure, when you turn on the iPad it stares back at you blankly. You can look at the time and check what day it is. Honestly, I wish Windows was so boring and scaled down. I wish I could install Windows for the first time into just a few megs of space and go to an app store so I could download and use only the apps I really wanted instead of having a bloated OS that takes up gigs of space and still doesn’t do […]
