Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol Bundle

If you’re looking for something a little different, Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol is well worth looking into. The idea of a turn based aerial combat may sound a little strange, but this implementation works really well. The idea is quite simple – build a squadron of pilots and complete your missions. Earn upgraded planes and skills for each successful run. Missions includes photographing enemy areas, destroying munitions, shooting down enemy planes and even a couple of rescue missions. It’s quite a bit of fun and as you progress and learn trick maneuvers you’ll see how they can save you when the enemy is hot on your tail and unleashing fiery death into your backside. I picked up Ace Patrol for both iPad and PC and have a great time heading out for a mission. There is now Pacific Skies which is standalone expansion to the game. These hit the street at a mere $4.99 each, but you can grab both […]

Sparky’s Fireworks Limited Time Building (LTB) – Payout and Update Costs

It’s time for a new LTB and to celebrate the 4th of July we have Sparky’s Fireworks. It’s a big building with a big cost. This bad boy will take $150 million if you want to add it to your collection. From there you’re going to have to pony up some serious cash. The payout becomes fairly decent at Level 6, but the cost is pretty damn high. The only redeeming quality is the 8hr payout cycle, but that can also be a curse. This building just screams "Rob me!" This building will most certainly get robbed in the wee hours of the night. The total cost of upgrading is $37 billion with no mods. Good Lord! Best case it’ll cost you $18 billion. For that investment you might get $52 million per day. That’s not bad, but it’ll take you years to get your money back out of this building. So, is it worth it? To be honest, no. […]

Banished – It takes a village

I started my village over to try and recover from all the mistakes I made the first time around. Such is the way with these sorts of games. I have no doubt this started village will end in tears as well. But, I made what I thought was decent progress. I managed to build a house for each citizen to shelter them from the elements and stockpiled fish, stone, iron, logs and firewood. I only have a few villagers to choose from so allocated jobs is a little tricky. I did manage to get a tailor set up, but I think I made a mistake by setting up a pasture when I have no livestock. Ooops. I’m clearcutting the hell out of the forest and I’m not sure 1 person allocated for forestry is going to undo the damage I’m causing. It is neat that trees will regrow and baby animals will appear. I think my biggest accomplishment was placing […]
