DiRT Rally by Codemasters on Steam Early Access

So a new entry in the DiRT franchise has literally just popped up on Steam Early Access. Codemasters is putting together DiRT Rally which goes back to the edge of your seat rally racing that many of have been wanting. As several reviews have clearly stated – No Gymkhana. At first glance the game looks very impressive and by the description of real rally stages, car setup, team mechanics, and car repair it sounds like an impressive and difficult blend of driving and management. In fact, if we jump back over a decade, it reminds me of Mobil 1 Rally Championship which I thought was incredibly fun and challenging game. If my memory serves, it had something like 250 miles of actual rally stages and not only was it hard to drive, the car constantly took damage. Even if you didn’t slam into barriers, rocks, logs, etc, there was the constant wear and tear on the car and you could […]

New version of CCleaner and Recuva, plus discount

I’m still a bit fan of Piriform CCleaner and feel the retail version is well worth the cost. I load more junk on my machine faster than CCleaner can get rid of it, but it tries to keep me out of trouble. Between it and SuperAntiSpyware, cookies and all manner of web junk are constantly getting swept away. Certainly worth the time and effort. And now you can get the complete bundle at a discount. You get CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva and Speccy for a bundle price and if you use the coupon code APRIL15, you get another 20% off. You basically get each program for $10 which in my opinion is a really good deal. So first, jump over to the site to buy the bundle. Next, enter the coupon code APRIL15 and get another 15% off. This will drop the price to $31.96

Finally scored big with the Nipah Virus in Plague Inc

Well now, this took a lot longer than expected to complete. My first run with the Nipah Virus went pretty well, that is until Greenland decided to be a holdout and not let my virus in. Next time around, Iceland followed suit. Why you guys have to deny me? I’m just trying to spread the love! But through persistence I managed to claim victory. Well, sort of a victory. I finished the scenario but just missed getting 3 biohazards. It took just a touch over 400 days so I was denied. So I tried again. And again. And again. I did manage to infect Greenland, but it didn’t spread fast enough and all the carriers died before it could really take hold. Curse the bad luck! But I got em this last time! No one was spared and they all fell. Turned out to be a lot tougher than I thought. Damn good fun though. I still need to go […]

XYplorer Lifetime License Pro on Sale at BitsDuJour

To put it bluntly, the "file manager" that comes with Windows is useless and it’s been that way for decades. Here we are in 2015 and viewing files is about as primitive as can be. Microsoft thinks they’re giving you features by offering a List View, Details or Thumbnails. Oh my goodness, the power at my disposal. Yeah right. While there are dozens of file manager replacements on the market, most aren’t any better than what you already have and if the y do have a few nice features, they hold you hostage with an outrageous price. There’s a choice, useless built-in software or highway robbery. Can I have a punch in the head on the side? However, there is a glimmer of light in this dreary file manager world – XYPlorer. It is a fantastic piece of software that gives you useful basic features and useable advanced features. Things start off easy with multiple tabs for viewing files, color […]

Humanity devolves back to Neanderthals in Plague – Like that’s a stretch

It’s time for the Frozen Virus in Plague Inc, the long dormant virus strain that must rebuild itself and send humanity back to the dark ages. At our current rate of progress it’s not actually that big of a stretch, but let’s focus on the game. An 30,000 year old virus has been discovered in Russia and must be pieced back to together in order to infect humanity. It’s a pretty weak strain and won’t survive in warmer climates. So, you have to start off in Russia, which is a new one for me since all my outbreaks are launched from India. Second, this relies almost exclusively on animals as a Transmission source.  Third, the Symptoms are related to bone structure such as stronger jaws and a change to the cranial structure – thus Neanderthal. Pretty cool scenario actually as you have to go through the Abilities tree and repair all the DNA sequences so you can get Symptoms and […]
