And Nicole digs the iPad

It didn’t take long to get the Twitter updates that the iPad was cool. It did the sync, moved all the apps over, resorted the data and she was on the web shortly after. She even bought a couple books to get the ball rolling. I played ZombieVille USA with it, on full screen, it was freakin hilarious! You can tell it’s a little blocky, but it’s hardly detracting. The play area was huge and the game worked just fine. I think she’s just taunting me by letting me play with it.

And Nicole buys and iPad!

Right after checking out Don’s iPad, Nicole succumbed to the Apple demons and went out at lunch and bought an iPad of her own. Apparently the Apple Store has plenty and they were more than ready to hand over a 16GB model to her. Right now it doesn’t do much since it hasn’t been synced with anything, but she’s giddy as hell to get home and try it out. Considering everything for the iPhone will work on it, should only be a couple of minutes before it’s up and running. Don says it will even ask if you want to do a restore so all your apps and data will transfer over. Ok, that’s pretty damn cool! We’ll see how she feels about in the morning.

Just spent a few minutes with the iPad

And now I really want one. A guy at work just brought his in and a few of us spend a few minutes checking out. Wow, it looks really nice. I have the Touch so yes, it’s a big version of that, which is fine with me since I very much enjoy the Touch. The screen is bright, and the apps look great. Native apps look very nice and even for iPhone apps there is the 2X button which doubles the size to fill the screen. Quite frankly, that looks pretty good too. They may not be perfect but it will keep you from repurchasing all your apps, unless you want to. Just from my brief usage, I really want one. The virtual keyboard is huge! It looks to be no problem to sit down and do some typing. Not sure if you’ll be able to write your memoirs, but it’s not bad at all. Really the only thing that […]

What’s with the iPad Smashing?

I’ve seen a couple of these videos so far of people destroying brand new iPads by scratching the hell out of the surface, pouring coffee all over it, stepping on it, dropping it face down on the pavement, to even smashing the damn thing with a baseball bat. And I have to ask myself, what the hell’s the point? Is this some sort of edgy protest I just don’t understand? Is this moronic demonstration supposed to show the iPad as being fragile? Is this some sort of slight against Apple for subpar workmanship? I mean seriously, would a netbook, Zune, or laptop actually fare any better if you dropped it onto the street or played baseball with it? I’m just not sure what the message is, except there are a lot of people out there with more money than brains. I guess the message is lost on me. Apple still made big bucks off the device even if you did […]
