Piriform updates CCleaner and offers 66% off Professional Plus Edition

We have yet another special going for a product I’m quite impressed with. CCleaner is a great app for sweeping away all the junk Internet traces and cookies that websites are so fond of spewing across our hard drives and for most people the free version gets the job done. And let’s not forget there is also the free version of Defraggler and Recuva. If you recall I’ve had to call up the services of Recuva once or twice in my fits of cleaning up my hard drive. And again, there are free versions of all these apps. Free versions that don’t have any real limitations or ads. So why pay for a full version when the free version is perfectly fine? Well, hard to argue with that, except, nothing in life is free. Someone has to spend the hours writing the code that makes CCleaner tick. And while you can certainly keep using it for free without fear of it […]

New version of CCleaner and Recuva, plus discount

I’m still a bit fan of Piriform CCleaner and feel the retail version is well worth the cost. I load more junk on my machine faster than CCleaner can get rid of it, but it tries to keep me out of trouble. Between it and SuperAntiSpyware, cookies and all manner of web junk are constantly getting swept away. Certainly worth the time and effort. And now you can get the complete bundle at a discount. You get CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva and Speccy for a bundle price and if you use the coupon code APRIL15, you get another 20% off. You basically get each program for $10 which in my opinion is a really good deal. So first, jump over to the site to buy the bundle. Next, enter the coupon code APRIL15 and get another 15% off. This will drop the price to $31.96

CCleaner v5.0 with a new look, new tools and a price discount

The new version of CCleaner v5.0 is out with some new tools and a new look. I’m all for the new tools, cleaning power and performance increase, but can we please stop following the Microsoft design of making apps look like Windows 8. The Metro UI looks like the vomitous mass from a 5 year old with a box 5 colored crayons. It’s a hideous UI and people really need to stop cloning it. But that aside, the new version of CCleaner 5 is out and soon there will be a new Defraggler. I wouldn’t be surprised if Speccy and Recuva also got a new release, even if it is for the UI. With the releases come a new coupon. If you want to buy the whole suite of tools, you can get CCleaner Professional Plus, which is what I have. It’s the tools bundled together at a discount price and you can use coupon code NOV14 to drop the […]

My machine is a filthy pit of despair

Egad, I really need to do a better job of cleaning up my work machine. I said I was going to run CCleaner on a more regular basis and failed miserably. Since the new school year is here, I thought I would start things off with a cleanse. Wow, look at the amount of crap that was rooted out of my work laptop? That is a ton of wasted space and some serious leftover junk. Seriously, why do I have 700MB in the Windows logs? What the hell is hiding in there?

CCleaner Roots Out 5GB Worth of Wasted Space

I decided it was time to give one of my machines a bit of clean with CCleaner and I have to say I’m a bit surprised with all the junk it found. My goodness, 5GB worth of old files including 3GB in the Recycle Bin (which I didn’t realize was there) and another 1GB worth of temp files. Looks like I need to run this a little more often.
