I’m Victorious in Need for Speed The Run!

Well my friends it’s a hot Friday night as I complete the final leg of Need for Speed The Run and go barreling into New York amidst a shower of sparks and twisted metal. It’s been one hell of a race across the country, but I managed to complete the 2800+ mile journey and take the win. Wow! What a game! Despite the flaws, The Run has been an incredible amount of fun and the graphics looks really, really good. The total amount of racing has been 2+ hours, but in reality it’s taken me significantly longer to complete the journey. A lot of mistakes were made that resulted in hundreds of Resets to start the stage over again. But that’s been part of the fun. The courses have been a been a challenge without going over the top. Except of course for the end. The final stage borders on the ridiculous as you not only weave in and out […]

Need for Speed The Run – A Quick Review

After several hours behind the wheel, I have to say Need for Speed The Run is pretty damn good fun packed with some wild driving and intense action and unlike many of the other Need for Speed episodes, it’s more than just smashing into the cops. If you remember, I bought Need for Speed The Run on sale a couple of weeks ago in anticipation of the Need for Speed movie. Oddly though, I don’t recall this game getting a lot of publicity when it came out. Or if it did, it seemed to die down quickly. Kind of shame really as The Run has turned out to be a lot of fun and one of my favorites from the series. The premise is simple, start in California and race across the country to be the first to arrive in New York. Easy enough, but this game actually has a story line and some plot twists that switch up the […]

Need For Speed The Movie

It’s opening day for the Need For Speed Movie and since I’ve been a fan of the franchise for years (and am currently playing The Run) I decided to take a chance and see what the movie was all about. Overall it was quite decent with some really neat cars, a few tense moments and when it was all over it made me want to jump behind the wheel and race across the country. But that’ll have to wait until I get home and can get The Run loaded up. Don’t expect this to be an award winner or a movie full of intricate plots twist and some sort of surprise ending. It’s exactly what you think it is and that’s not a bad thing. There are some wickedly powerful and sexy cars, wild driving, police chases and helicopters that come swooping out of the sky. There’s a couple of ridiculous moments to, but you can look past them. It […]

More Racing Fun with Need for Speed On Sale at Amazon

Steam isn’t the only one selling pieces of the Need for Speed series on the cheap. Amazon has several recent titles in their stable that you can grab for just a few bucks. While Steam is selling off the older assets, Amazon has some of the newer titles such as The Run, Rivals and Most Wanted. If you’re looking to round out your collection, now is a good time to buy. I picked up The Run and Rivals. I’ve never played The Run, but the gameplay videos on YouTube don’t look too bad. I’ve seen Rivals on the PS4 and while the graphics looked good, it was damn near unplayable with the controller. I hope something was out of adjustment and the game is a lot better than that. The reviews are pretty mixed with a lot of people saying this is a pretty poor port of the game. For the price, I’ll take the gamble and see how it […]
