Behold The Bacon Explosion!

Behold the Bacon Explosion! Some say that merely gazing upon it can cause arteries to harden. Others look at its meaty goodness and weep tears of joy. My compadres and I look upon the Bacon Explosion with reverence and respect and have longed for the day to create it ourselves. That day has finally arrived. Last year the Death Sausage was created, a nine pound behemoth that still has no equal and has yet to be duplicated (but Father’s Day is just around the corner), however, this time around the real recipe was followed and a Bacon Explosion was brought into the world. My buddy Theo was at the helm and making only slight alterations he handcrafted this meat roll up. To start, he blended together an herb rub that would go inside and outside the roll. He also included several cloves of garlic. Once those two pieces were prepped it was time to make the bacon weave; a true […]

Gas Tycoon, a lot of entertainment for $0.99

So far, I’ve spent hours playing Gas Tycoon. I downloaded it and a bevy of other games, but it’s the only one out of that set that I keep coming back to. I just really like the way it plays. All the pieces are laid out for you, but the trick is to get them turned the right way. Maybe it’s just me, but connecting all the pieces the right way turns out to be a lot harder than it looks. If you like pipe mania style games this is definitely one to get. Lemico Soft

Bootlegger, pretty cool, I just wish it had more

Catamount, the guys who put together Dope Wars, then promptly renamed it to Candy Wars after Apple rejected them, also have a fun little game called Bootlegger which I’ve been playing recently. Strangely, the idea of gunning down cops, hiring thugs, opening Speakeasies and bootlegging liquor doesn’t seem to upset Apple’s sensibilities at all. But I digress. There are a lot of similarities between Bootlegger and the old Dope Wars game. You move from city to city, buying low, selling high and avoiding the cops. An added element is the "thugs" you can hire into your gang so you can overtake cities and open Speakeasies. Each new Speakeasy gives you $5,000 a week and you have to overtake, read as have a shootout with the local crimeboss. Pretty neat idea actually. Additionally, you buy larger vehicles to transport the liquor. You move from a car, to a truck, to the ultimate – the rum runner. Again, a really nice upgrade […]

Thanks for Gameloft for all the free games!

Gameloft gave away a pretty impressive array of games over the last two weeks. I think I got 5 new games out of the deal. I missed 1, had 4 of the other games and 1 of them really wasn’t on my list. But hey, it’s generous as hell to give away games like that. I do find it funny that there are people out there who whined and complained because they missed out or the game they wanted wasn’t given away. Damn, some people are stupid and can’t even be happy with free… I think the most amusing game might actually be Bridge Odyssey

Ballmer admits Vista is Poop

It doesn’t really get an clearer than this, but Ballmer is admitting that Vista was crap. I don’t really agree that Vista was "too big a task", but I do agree that Vista was crap. However, I will also admit that after SP1 it really didn’t deserve all the bad press it got. It’s not a Netbook OS to be sure, but once the driver issues were worked out it wasn’t that bad, but the performance issues, driver bugs and lack of support for so much hardware put a stigma on Vista it would never recover from. It is funny though that even though Vista was bad, Windows 7 is almost exactly the same OS and people love it. People can say what they want, but Windows 7 is Vista SP3. The dialog boxes, UAC, Control Panel and so many other components in Win 7 are simply reused from Vista. It has some cosmetic changes to the UI and Taskbar […]
