Will the iPad 5 be a step toward a gaming console?

News and release of the next generation iPad or iPad 5 is imminent and I wonder what Apple has done to the innards? Even though it’s been a top seller since the first one hit the streets, it’s not really jumping ahead in leaps and bounds anymore. Samsung is making some impressive hardware and Amazon is following suit with some really impressive and cost effective devices. It would seem the iPad is going to come with 64 bit which is very cool and makes me wonder if this is the first step in the iPad becoming a game console. Well, the first step would have been to build a massive game catalog which Apple has already done, so 64 bit and multiple cores would be the second step. You can’t deny the quality of the games that are coming out for the iPad and not just silly games like Angry Birds. Look at Need for Speed, Asphalt and Real Racing. […]

Ultima Forever–Quest for the Avatar

There is a lot of renewed interest in Ultima these days. We’ve seen a couple of recreations of the classic games and now we have a brand new version coming to iOS devices, especially the iPad. I’ve been longing for Ultima to make an appearance ever since I bought my first iPad three years ago. It seemed the perfect platform, but alas, neither Electronic Arts nor Lord British was able to make it happen. Until now. The long wait is nearly over as Ultima Forever – Quest for the Avatar has been spotted in the Canadian App Store and hopefully that means a worldwide release is imminent. Normally I shy away from "free" games especially from studios like EA and Gameloft. Their Freemium games come riddled with bugs, are light on content and heavy on asking for handouts in the form of real money to progress through the game. I’d rather buy the game and put an end to all […]

Camera+ for iPad

Sure, there’s a built in camera app for the iPad, but you have to admit, it doesn’t do a whole lot. Once you take the picture, what can you do with it? What if you want to crop it? What if you wanted to enhance it or rotate it? You can try iPhoto, which I haven’t, but not only is it $4.99 with no “trial” version, Apple isn’t exactly known for belting out the updates. They toss an app out there and then as the next version of the iOS come along, they bring out an update. But I did find an interesting app yesterday, Camera+ for iPad. It brings up a grid (rule of thirds) so you can map out how the picture is broken up, there is a level, you can crop, you can make adjustments, rotate, see the ISO equivalent, add FX, use an image stabilizer and use a burst mode. I mean, there is a slew […]

Cradle of Rome – Free for a limited time

I picked this up as a free download and have been quite impressed. It’s a pretty nice Match-3 game like 10 Talismans, but with a city building element. Earn gold and resources by the tiles you match then use that to buy buildings for your city. Start as a peasant in a hut and work your way up. It’s a pretty ice variation and you can’t beat free. I’m sure it’s only free for the Easter weekend so you better hurry. Cradle of Rome 2 HD

AirDisk Pro – Wireless Flash Drive – Free for Easter!

This is one of my favorite utilities right now, and not only did it get an update, they’ve dropped the price to FREE for Easter! Now that’s a heck of a gift! If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to transfer files to the iPad this is the way to go. This app is a fantastic buy at $0.99, so getting it for free is one hell of a thing! If you haven’t download a copy, you best get a move on. AirDisk Pro – Wireless Flash Drive
