New Diesels in the station

The new trains are here and they are really cool. I’m sure the seasoned train veteran wouldn’t think so but I’m well pleased with them. I got a cool Santa Fe engine with 3 additional cars and a Union Pacific engine with 3 additional cars. Plus each comes with more track and a transformer. Quite frankly the kit was significantly cheaper than trying to buy all the parts. The Santa Fe engine alone is worth nearly as much as I paid for the whole set.

Again, these may not be the coolest sets in the world but I have to admit they really bring out a boyish glee. The engines sound really cool as they go around. There is that small clunk as they pass over the connections and the sound of metal churning away. And when you put the sets together you can make a massive line of cars that looks really impressive as it works its way around. And the kids like it too. Now there is plenty of track and a really long train. Now it looks like a real train.

I may have to admit I might be taking this train thing a little far. Not only do I have the model trains I bought a copy of Railworks 2 from Steam. They were having a sale so I bought the base program and already have 4 expansions. I bought a couple engines that match the models I have. Railworks has the Santa Fe and Union Pacific engines. It may not be Dirt 3 or Grand Theft Auto but it really is a lot of fun to play. I find it almost hypnotizing.

If you’ve come as an elf, see it through as an elf.
