How To Download Movies From Hulu Using Freemake Video Downloader

While wandering around Hulu I discovered an old TV series from the 90s I wanted to watch. Unfortunately, there were multiple problems. I simply couldn’t get it to play. The trailers and commercials would play just fine, but the show never started. This caused a great deal of frustration and the gnashing of teeth. And when teeth get gnashed I go looking for software. It took mere moments to solve the problem.

Enter Freemake Video Downloader; a tool I’ve already used to download videos from YouTube and other sites. Well, it just so happens that Freemake can download videos from Hulu too. And it does so without bringing down any of the commercials. That’s right, commercials free shows.

Here’s how it works:

Find the video you want from Hulu

Right click the episode and select Copy Link Location

Switch over to Freemake Video Downloader and click the Paste URL button

Wait a few moments for Freemake to drill down and find the file. Within a minute or two the download will start.

Within a couple of minutes your video will be downloaded and ready to play.

While the file is an MP4 file, I had problems getting it to play in Windows Media Player. I don’t have any extra codecs installed, but the file played just fine with VLC Media Player.

The quality was pretty good considering the age of the show and the audio was just fine. Everything was in sync and worked like a charm.

Also keep in mind, I wasn’t logged in with any sort of account – I don’t have a Hulu account. I was simply a passerby and grabbed some links. I have now downloaded the entire series – all 8 seasons. Each episode was around 330MB so I downloaded over 50GB of content.

So if you’re looking to grab some shows from Hulu it’s incredibly easy. There’s no need to go out and buy one of the dozens of programs I see with miracle taglines about downloading movies. Just get Freemake, it’s easy and it works. If you grab more than a couple files you should consider donating to their Freemake Video Converter tool. It’s only $9.99 and helps pay the devs.

Oh, and the series I was downloading? Anyone remember Silk Stalkings, the hot and sexy crime drama from Stephen J. Cannell? It was pretty saucy for the day, maybe tame by today’s standards, but the stories are still pretty good and it’s still very entertaining.

I think Airwolf might be next on my list.

Maybe I should've written that in a different font.
