Deadliest Warrior

You remember sitting around and saying, “If this guy and this guy got into a fight who would win?” Well, this is that show. They take fighters of old like Samurai, Ninja, Spartan, Viking and even the Mafia and then pit them against each other in a battle simulator. But the cool part is how they get damage data from the weapons they use. They take a ballistics gel skeleton and then take an axe to the skull, a trident to the gullet, flying arrow to the eyes, and baseball bat to the back of the head. Suffice it to say there is some trauma inflicted. And then once they see what kind of damage each weapon can do, they put it into the computer and let the opponents square off. The show is completely ridiculous, but cool as hell! Want to see who would win between a Pirate and a Knight or between the Mafia and Yakuza? Then check […]

Keeping connected with Digsby

Using Flock got me to thinking about Digsby (which I recently started using) and how it can connect to multiple services at one time. At work I am connected to MSN, Yahoo and ICQ at the same time. Why people use ICQ is beyond me, but they do and now so do I. I used to run three seperate apps, but Digsby now gets me there with just one app. I read about it in MaxiumumPC and decided to give it a try for myself. Very lemming-esque I know, but hey, sometimes it works out. That fact alone makes Digsby very cool, but it also allows me to connect to Gmail, Yahoo mail, and Hotmail all at the same time. I can keep up with any incoming email across all three systems without having to check them all the time. I don’t have the services, but you can also keep track of Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn at the same […]

Trying out Flock

Looks like this is the week for trying out new browsers. So far I’ve hit Safari (which I thought was pretty impressive and fast), Chrome 2.0 (it’s always good to see browsers working to improve speed and stability) and now Flock (built on Firefox, but with some pretty cool addons). From the start it Flock looks like Firefox with a bunch of plugins already installed under the hood and sporting a more polished theme. Roboform is already loaded and ready to go, plus a whole slew of additional tools to integrate into Flickr, Twitter, Email, Blogs, Picasa and Facebook. Funny thing is, I don’t use half of these services, but it all looks pretty impressive. My cohorts in the QA world who use these services are also giving it a try and they seem to be having some issues and configuration hassles. Maybe it’s not as social as the makers would have us believe. I will run with it for […]

Here comes Chrome 2.0

Wow, look at this, Google has just released the 2.0 version of Chrome. It’s not like them to actually update things so quickly. My update just finished installing so now I have to re-check all of our webpages with the new version to see how they render. I’m not ready to give up Firefox, but I like how everyone is trying to make their browser faster. Since MS is so slow in pushing updates for IE, I wonder how they will keep pace with everyone else in this little speed race.
