XP Baseline

I’ve been short on time this week, but I did manage to get my XP machine to a baseline of all the patches and updates installed. No software is on their yet, and it’s very fast. I made an image of the OS so I can install apps and if I come across something that slow it all down again, I can remove it and start over. I think my problem previously has been all these damn tools and apps that feel the need to install all these additional services. I think it was so overrun with junk services that it was just choking and taking forever to boot. Now that I know how fast it can be I need to keep an eye out to make sure it does slow down to a crawl again. I’m already compiling a list of apps that aren’t getting installed this time around and checking to see which ones create new services.

So far, so good

Well, ain’t that some shit, we haven’t totally botched this update. Looks like we are learning from out mistakes and this one went out the door pretty much error free. Now let’s see if our good luck will last through the day.

Validation ensues

The new code is up so it’s time to test and see what we have. So far, it looks pretty successful. Nothing says fun like watching the sun come up over the business complex. But fear not, at least we have donuts!

Damn it’s dark

Time to get up at the crack of dawn and release some software. Egad it’s dark out there. So 6am does really exist. Who wouldn’t have thought?

Mountain Dew Throwback

I finally got my hands on some. And it is good! It is sweeter and almost tastes like a lemon drop for a second. It even has more of a lemon/citrus fragrance to it. No, I’m not going around sniffing Mt. Dew bottles like some sort of junkie. And no I’m not being snobbish by using fragrance rather than smell. Get your own bottle and tell me what it smells like. 🙂 Going to get the Dew was maddening as the grocery store was over-crowded and the stupid machine wouldn’t take Debit cards. Of course the snotty-nosed cashier failed to mention that to me as I swiped the card then proceeded to berrate me when I did it wrong. Oh you wicked harpy, you’ll get yours one day. But my God the sugar content is through the roof! For a 20oz bottle, it’s 73g of sugar and 280 calories. Clearly I won’t be able to drink too many of these. […]
