So many browsers to choose from

I love the fact that there are so many new browsers on the “market” these days. I just downloaded the beta of Flock and it’s pretty damn cool. In a pretty significant change they’re using the Chromium engine instead of the Mozilla engine. And as you might expect the browser looks completely different and has all the speed and plugins of Chrome. I don’t use Flock all the time (I’m still an advocate of Firefox) but I love the idea of it. Having integration into Twitter and Facebook is extremely powerful. Yes, you can get that same integration with plugins and addons, but they make it so seamless. Plus, it’s all there ready to go.

I think it’s an interesting change that Chromium is at the heart of it this time around. I do a lot of testing with Chrome and I admit right off, it’s crazy fast. It renders pages insanely fast. Lots of people I work with have switched over to it. I like all the bells and whistles of Firefox, but Chrome is a darn nice browser. And let’s not forget the crazy rendering power of Safari 5. That browser is wicked fast too. And they’ve really opened things up with their support for plugins.

All I have to say is, I’m so glad IE isn’t the only choice out there anymore. Now if we could only get rid of IE6 once and for all.
