I want to make a railway

I find the little train track terribly interesting. I guess it’s a tangible sort of fun. It’s something you can hold and it can be made into whatever shape you have enough track for. Which leads me to my next problem. In no way do I have enough track. I’ve been scouring the web looking for N Scale track and have been sadly disappointed at what’s being offered. Amazon has some trains and track but it’s almost impossible to tell what you’re actually buying. I looked at dozens of items and got excited about adding them to my track only to find out they were the wrong scale. And that’s not a minor miscalculation, that’s a complete blunder.

So in one of those rare cases I ditched Amazon and sought goods elsewhere. After many side trips into the model train subculture I came across a site that really seemed to have things organized with decent prices. I ended up at tandkhobby.com which has everything organized by the different scales as well as by manufacturer. Finally! I was able to locate track parts and know I was getting the right kind.

As per usual I went a little overboard. Not only did I get a whole slew of different kinds of track I even bought another train set. My little steam locomotive looks lonely so I thought I would get another to go along with it. They won’t run on the same track since that doesn’t work so well, but they can run next to each other. I will have my own little train depot and everything should be here some time in the next couple of days. I have to admit, I’m very excited over the new track arriving. I have all sorts of ideas about layouts I can make. I have over a dozen feet coming in, but the track still needs to be small since it has to stay on the table. I’ve decided to go with the idea that it’s better to have and not need than need and not have.

Model train track is expensive there is no doubt about that. I can see why people end up spending thousands of dollars on the stuff. So few places actually sell these pieces any more. It’s become a rare commodity.

If you’ve come as an elf, see it through as an elf.
