Web Feeds HD – now Free!

Web Feeds HD has dropped in price from $2.99 to Free! I ‘ve been looking for a decent feed reader so I grabbed this one and from the couple of minutes I spent working with it I think we might have a winner. It can use Google Reader but doesn’t require it. You can directly add Feeds from your favorite web sites. It grabbed the feed from the website no problem and when in landscape uses a traditional two pane view to show the article headers and in then the full article on the right. In portrait mode it uses the standard flyout to display the articles and the full article behind it, just like what you would see in the mail application. If you’re like me and looking for a decent reader you should jump on this offer and get Web Feeds before the price goes back up.

Problems with WordPress 3.1 on IIS – Redirect Loop

I was testing a new site with WordPress 3.1 and ran into major problem. I was setting up the new test blog on my IIS server and continually get the error: "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." There seems to be an issue with the Canonical Redirect in WordPress 3.1. This was with a brand new install so it has nothing to with plugins or caching or other upgrade issues. From what I can tell it could be an issue with IIS, although this is something new to 3.1 since I’ve been using IIS since WordPress 2.0 and have never seen this problem before. I retested this and WordPress 3.0.4 does not exhibit this problem. I was able to get into the control panel by specifying the complete address (include the wp-admin) portion and navigate around. However, if you haven’t upgraded to WordPress 3.1 and you’re […]

So here comes the iPad 2

The web is going to be alive with analysis and thoughts on the new iPad and what it means to tablets, desktop machines, Windows, Netbooks and who knows what else so I thought I would go ahead and add my few hundred words into the mix on what I thought about it. I think it’s really good, but not worth an upgrade for me. I think the idea of two cameras and Facetime is a good feature but not something I would ever use. Having it be thinner is not that big a deal since I’ve never had an issue with the size or weight of the original. The beefed up processing power and graphics capabilities will probably make a pretty big gap between the two devices in about six months. I fully anticipate some wildly impressive console like games before Christmas. Casual gamers like me will be happy with the regular iPad for quite some time, but more dedicated […]
