Seriously, what in the hell is Apple thinking?

Now that all the fervor has died down, I checked into the specs of the iPhone 5 and the Touch 5. I’m just going to gloss over the iPhone 5 because saying that has been completely designed is a complete load of nonsense. It’s the same damn phone it’s always been, just a touch bigger. Making it faster is good, but it’s still the same phone.

And that leads me to my problem. The iPod Touch is a portable gaming console. Obviously it’s an MP3 player as well, but by and large people who have one play games on it. That’s exactly what I do with mine and even how I described it before I got one. "If they made something like the iPhone just for games, I’d get one." They do, and I did.

So why is it that the iPhone 5 has the much faster A6 chipset while the Touch still has the A5 chipset? Not to mention the lesser camera. Shouldn’t the Touch have the same A6 to get the most out of gaming? This seems like a really stupid dividing line and make the Touch 5 a lousy upgrade. Why get one now knowing that in a year it will be significantly faster when they put the faster chipset in it? Why do they keep skimping on the Touch?

Is the iPad Mini supposed to be the new mobile platform and they put the A6 chips inside there so people will jump on board? This seems like the old ploy of robbing Peter to pay Paul. It seems like they’re skimping to funnel people into a purchase path. I wanted a new Touch, but the 5 is a weak upgrade. I don’t want a iPad Mini because I have the Big Boy Models of both the original and the iPad 3.

It’s not like we haven’t seen this sort of thing with Apple before, but damn, I’m not following the logic here.
