Shoutcast, you interest me

I’m not sure how I ended up here, but I’ve been messing around with the Shoutcast channels in Winamp. I messed with this stuff years ago and it never really piqued my curiosity. But that was then and now we have tens of thousands of channels out there. I was completely unaware. Now there is everything you can think of from sports, to paranormal, to stations dedicated to a single band (Rush), comedy, Classical and everything in between. I really have some exploring to do. Shoutcast is great on Winamp, now let’s see what we can find for the iPad.

All Your Phryne Fisher Are Belong To Us

It’s wrong and I shouldn’t be doing it, but now I’m debating getting both the Kindle versions of the Miss Fisher series as well as the audiobooks. I heard a sampling of the first book and the production was excellent. I’m toying with the idea of playing the books through the iPod over to the Apple TV through AirPlay. Seems like that would make for a good evenings entertainment.

Happy Memorial Day

It’s Memorial Day and me and the Scooby Gang are here at work. I really hope today is slow and quiet. I’d really like to get through one of these days without shit hitting the fan and all our customers losing their damn minds. We will get paid extra for today so that’s a good thing. I need that cash to pay for all the books I’ve just bought. Wait? Did I just say that out loud?

Heading out to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway

This has been a goal of mine for years, to ride a bike on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I’ve been to the Biltmore House multiple times and everytime I go, I tell myself I’ll ride a bike through these mountains. Well, this is the weekend it’s all going to happen. We’re finally packing up the touring bikes and will give it a run. We’re going to stay at the hotel, ride 30 miles to the next hotel, stay the night, then ride the 30 miles back in the morning. It should be awesome! The weather looks good, the scenery should be spectacular and the hills should be a challenge. I’ve been waiting for this for so long. I can’t believe we’re about to head out and do it!

Big sales for the weekend

The big sales are on for the weekend. Tons of games have dropped to the $0.99 mark. And there are plenty of free ones to choose from. I might have to grab a couple. I put all that money into my iTunes account and now I’m reluctant to spent it. Maybe that was the subconscious goal. By the way, has anyone ever put together their own "Choose Your Own Adventure" book? I keep seeing software packages to help put one together. I’ve been intrigued by the idea for years and more and more I want to try and write one. On the one hand it seems incredibly easy, but at the same time it seems very complicated and you can make a mess of it really easily. Anybody used any of the software out there like Adrift or Quest or Tads?
