Apple Event – New iPad, iMac, OSX and Mac Mini. And I want one!

I just got done watching the Apple event with the unveiling of the new iPad, iPad Mini, OSX and iMac and that new iPad Air 2 is looking pretty sweet! They did the same thing as the iPhone and ditched the 32GB model and jumped straight to 64GB. They also dropped the price by $100 so now my head is spinning at the idea of getting a new iPad. And if I do go all in I’m getting the 128GB model. And since I’ve been using this MacBook Pro at work, I’m now toying with the idea of getting a Mac for home – something I’ve wanted to do for a long time now. There is a new Mac Mini that is awfully tempting as well. I could do a full sweep and get a new iPad and a Mac to go with it. I don’t have the funds or the justification for that sweet looking 27inch iMac with 5K […]

A new business "Sim" in Steam Early Access – Arms Dealer

I just saw there was a new game in Steam Early Access – Arms Dealer. It literally showed up last night and it has my interest. It’s a sim style game with a slightly different edge. Your goal is to build up your business, forge relationships and take out your competitors. Catch is, you’re a high level arms dealer and you need to stay one step ahead of the various government agencies out to stop your nefarious deeds. From what I can tell from the screenshots and promo video, you’re out to arm small factions, equip large armies and even help supply munitions to the underdog in a military conflict. This alone sounds quite exciting and new. I’m definitely up for something a little more devious than the standard has to offer. The graphics look pretty neat and it all looks pretty straight forward. It’s still Early Access and from the reviews a few things could use some updates and […]

Save 50% on Roboform (Mac)

As I zip around on this new Mac, I realize I’m not going to get very far without one of my favorite tools – Roboform. There are just too many websites and too many passwords to remember. I’ve been using Roboform on my Windows machine for years and using the web without it is a huge hindrance. No problem though, there is a Roboform for Mac and it works pretty much the same way. Done deal, I need a copy of this. A quick search on the web found Coupon Code – EGS30 – which gives a nice 50% discount. That drops the price from $29.99 to $14.95. Funny thing is, once you have a copy in the basket you can get an additional license for even less. I picked up a second copy for $9.99. So for less than the cost of a single copy, I got two. Nice deal. If you don’t have a copy of Roboform, it […]

Big Savings on Banished and Democracy 3 at GOG.Com

Well, take a look at this – GOG.com is having a sale on Banished and Democracy 3 as well as several other titles. If you remember I’m a huge fan of Banished and love playing it. The graphics are great and while the game is easy to play, it’s still quite difficult. One wrong move and you will scar your community for generations. It’s normally $19.99, but GOG has it on sale for $7.99. That’s a steal! I highly recommend grabbing a copy! Democracy 3 is a new game I just picked up and while it seems easy, oh my goodness, Mistakes Were Made. Think you can run the country and make the right decisions? Well, give it a god. This is deep game with lots of choices that affect lots of different people and groups. I just started playing and have already doomed my political career. Let’s just say my approval rating isn’t on the rise. Steam just had […]

Out with Windows 8 and back to the future with Windows 7

So, I managed to remove Windows 8 from my new laptop and it really wasn’t that big of a deal. First, let me say, I don’t actually hate Windows 8 as an OS, I simply hate the Metro UI, Microsoft bolted on top of it. I think it is the worst UI they have ever come up with. It simply doesn’t work and it looks horrible! Anyway, I used a Ubuntu disk to blow away all the Windows partitions. As usual, Dell makes like 5 of them so it was probably a good idea to get rid of them anyway. Once that was done it was easy to boot into Windows 7 and install. It ran just like it normally does. I did have to turn off the Secure Boot in BIOS and I turned on the Legacy Boot option just for good measure. Everything installed fine, but there were some issues. Seems to me that in order to help […]
