DVDFab offers Passkey at a discount for stranded AnyDVD owners
While DVDFab isn’t a program I’m that familiar with, as I don’t have it installed, nor have I used it, I have seen plenty of mention of it. Because of the issues surrounding AnyDVD, DVDFab is offering their Passkey software at a significant discount. Passkey is the equivalent of AnyDVD, while the DVDFab Copy tool is akin to CloneDVD. There is also a BluRay tool equivalent to CloneBD.
If you’re looking to continue backing up your legally obtained DVDs and BluRays because you believe in Fair Use, want to build a digital media library, would like to make sure your rare discs don’t get scratched or want to play kids movies without having to wade through dozens of useless previews, then Passkey could be a good answer.
I firmly believe the AACS has completely overstepped their bounds and are taking away the ability to back up movies you already own. As I’ve said before, I rip DVDs to my media machine so I don’t have to track down the disc when I want to play something. Further, plenty of shows come out of on DVD only to disappear again. What are you going to do if one of those discs get scratched?
Anyway, I really hope RedFox and AnyDVD live on and I will fully support them in that effort. I also want companies like DVDFab to continue giving people an alternative ability to back up their movies. Passkey sounds pretty useful and right now you can get a massive discount. I’m tempted to get their “lifetime” license just to hedge my bets on how this plays out.

It also looks like Passkey will rip a disc straight to ISO like AnyDVD, and they also offer a DVDFab Virtual Drive, similar to VirtualCloneDrive so you can mount and play your ISO images like a regular disc. This is a good compliment of tools and worth checking out.
If anyone has Pros or Cons of Passkey they’d like to share, feel free to throw out a comment.
