🏙 Having fun with my return to Pocket City 🏦

I had a real want to play a city builder, but I didn’t want to get into the labors of micromanagement. I want to build stuff!

There are dozens of choices, but there is an old game that jumped out at me. Why not get back into Pocket City?

It’s been a hot minute since the game came out, and since I last played, but within 5 minutes I was off and having a great time. Yes, I was playing on Easy, so it’s almost impossible to lose, but it was exactly what I was looking for.

I love the art style, the quests, the upgrades to the fire and police station that send helicopters over the city. I was looking for something to jump into, and after 3 hours, I was knee deep in the quests, the money was flowing in, and I was building and upgrading with total satisfaction.

For the next couple of nights, I jumped back in, and had a great time finishing up the quests and laying out my city. I survived floods, volcanos, tornadoes, and massive lightning strikes. I made it all the way to Lvl 99 and sent my rocket into space. It was great.

I picked up Pocket City when it first came out, and loved it. However, when I got back in, I noticed some additions. Either I didn’t notice them the first time around, or they were added in one of the updates, but there is now a Region addition, to build adjoining cities, and a Policies tab. Once the main city is done, it’s off to build up the 8 connecting ones.

Pocket City isn’t as deep as SimCity, but Pocket City is by a single dev, and I’m wildly impressed.

There is a Pocket City 2 for iPad, which I need to pick up, but Pocket City 2 doesn’t exist for Mac, yet. Hopefully that will change in the near future. I will be all over the next iteration as soon as it comes out.

Pocket City is a single purchase, less than $5, with no in-app purchases, no trivial DLC.

I’ve had such a good time playing, and now I’m in a new city in the Region section. I’ve picked the more farming centric area, so I need to make use of the soil, and not cover everything up with Commercial zones. That’s a nice change of pace.

Pocket City is a good bit of fun, and for the $5, you can’t argue with the price. It’s not quite SimCity, which I might load up next, but Pocket City is exactly what I’m looking for. I want to plan, and build, not get bogged down in micromanagement. Pocket City is the perfect choice for my city buildings needs.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
