Big Kalypso Sale at Steam – Save 85% – Aug 14 – 18

Here’s something for ya, Kalypso is having a multi-day sale over at Steam with different titles going on sale each day. The best sales will probably be early on and right now the entire Tropico line is one sale, as well as Omerta, Port Royale, Patrician and Rise of Venice. Serious discounts for these games. Looks like I’ll be adding a whole slew of new games and raking in some new DLC for the games I already have. Kalypso Anniversary Sale

Sid Meier’s Railroads – A Blast From the Past

It’s been a long time since I sat down and played this game, but today I felt the urge to lay down some tracks and live through the steam era. And even after all these years the game still looks and plays great. I had the resolution set to 1920×1080 and it didn’t skip a beat. I only had time enough to play the first scenario, but it was a great time. I actually got off to a really good start and was able to shuttle gold back and forth to Los Angeles. From there I made the connection to San Diego and made a quick buck moving passengers back and forth. I had a bit of lunch and there was a vineyard right down the road which opened up a Winery for me. From there I was able to extract some oil, bring in some corn and then some cattle. Yes, I was only on the first scenario but […]

BeamNG Drive Comes to Steam

It’s been a long time coming, but BeamNG Drive has been given the Greenlight from Steam and will soon be available for Early Access purchase. If you bought the alpha builds through the BeamNG website you should get a Steam Key so that you can keep the game updated. This is really good news. Not only will the game stay updated, it means the devs have garnered enough support to really push this game to the next level. If you’re not familiar with it, BeamNG Drive is a soft body physics game which is a fancy way of saying you beat the hell out of your vehicle and it will show and respond to the damage. The big fun of this game right now is to smash the stuffing out of your car or truck and watch the pieces fly in every direction as the body crumble like an empty beer can. There are some hilarious videos on YouTube showcases […]

More fun to be had with Bio Inc – The Biomedical Plague

So, I’ve been having a great time seeking vengeance against my enemies in Bio Inc. Ok, I don’t really have any enemies, but it’s still fun to put in the name of co-worker and then slowly turn the screws to unleash a flurry of diseases on them. Like I said, it’s my own little voodoo doll. On a more serious note, Bio Inc is a high quality game that’s as entertaining as it is complicated. The first couple of levels aren’t that big a deal, but sending my victim to the emergency room inside 150 days turned out to be a lot more difficult than I thought. It took me half a dozen tries to get it right and even then I just scraped by in 149 days. And that was on the moderate level. The other one that’s proving difficult is the Happy Birthday level. The goal is to kill off the patient in 365 days, which has been […]

O&O DiskImage Pro 8.5 on Sale for $14

I got this as an email, O&O DiskImage Pro is on sale for a mere $14. O&O is one of those tools that allows you to backup the files on your machine as well as clone the entire drive. One of the cool features is you can make a backup of a drive and then mount that file like it was drive. Even if the drive is gone you can still work with it like it was installed. I’ve also used DiskImage to clone a drive before I  did a replacement. I upgraded from a small 500GB drive to a massive 3TB system drive and I was able to transfer the entire OS and all my apps without incident. I probably should have just reinstalled, but I figured it would be more fun to risk everything and just clone the whole machine. Funny thing is, it worked no problem. I’ve also used Acronis True Image and I’m not sure which […]
