Oregon Trail for iPad is an EPIC FAIL

We waited two and half years for this piece of crap? It’s great the game has been scaled to fit the larger screen, too bad it’s not worth playing anymore. At every turn the game hounds you to spend real money to get instant gratification for the challenges presented. Literally every minute the game wants to try and connect to the app store for an in-app purchase. These new updates ruin so much of the game that it’s just not worth playing anymore. But the part that sends me through the roof is that the game, which I paid for, has ads in it. Admittedly they are for other Gameloft games, but I don’t care. Get those ads the hell out of my game! I paid for this app I don’t ever want to see ads in it. This just proves that Gameloft is perfectly content to sit back and scheme new ways to rip off customers. I was very […]

The Oregon Trail – iPad Edition

It’s the Oregon Trail, but this time scaled up for the iPad! And only $0.99 too! This is something Gomeloft should have done, oh I don’t know, a year ago. Truthfully, they should have just made the original one a Universal app. But then I guess they wouldn’t be able to shake down all the iPad owners for another dollar. Anyway, at least it’s available now and at a reasonable price.   Embark on Gameloft’s refreshing revisit of the classic game you used to play on Apple II now. The press already love it. You’ll love it too. **IGN Editors’ Choice Award: “The Oregon Trail is a fantastic re-imagining of the original educational game.” **Pocket Gamer’s Gold Award: “The Oregon Trail exudes a level of quality in its design and presentation.” **The mobile game was named Best Casual Mobile Game at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards Westward, Ho! Your favorite pioneering adventure game is back and takes you to an […]

Steve Jobs 1955 – 2011

Some of my earliest computer memories are playing Ultima III on the Apple IIe in high school. I still consider that and Ultima IV to be some of the greatest games ever made. I loved the Apple II series. I had a II+ and wanted a IIe more than anything. Actually, I think I wanted the IIc even more. It was small and compact and had 128k of ram. It was the most awesome thing I’d ever seen. My computer desires where then shifted to the IIGS (Woz Edition). Oh my lord it was amazing. It had full color graphics and sound. It was the best gaming system out there. It was so much more than I could afford and I loved playing with it during school. Those early days, they make me smile. But anyway, that is where my love of computers started. I loved Apple back in those days. I thought they were the coolest things. I remember […]
