📝 A quick Markdown roundup

Since my compadres at work have brought Macs into their lives, they were asking about note taking apps, and which worked with Markdown. Ironically, in the Mac space, pretty much every editor supports Markdown. There are so many it can be a little overwhelming. I originally wasn’t on board the Markdown train, I didn’t see the point since it came across as a subset of HTML. I am not a fan of HTML and its 1990 style Wordperfect tags. But, I’ve been schooled and now see Markdown is much easier to understand and use. 💻 Using AI for Content Creation

People are absolutely wetting themselves over the concept of AI content creation with AI-powered tools revolutionizing the way we write. The idea of being able to fill a blog with dozens of articles per day or to have students generate papers with just a few keystrokes is all the rage, and fear. Now you can procrastinate until 5 minutes before the deadline, bash out some ideas, then poof, AI saves the day. Pretty sure that’s not the reality, so I decided to try it out and run a bit of an experiment. I had AI generate a few articles to see what it made. First, I wrote out a list of topics in an outline. ⌘ Keyboard Maestro for Windows – Macro Toolworks?

Before we get started, there is no Keyboard Maestro for Windows. Sadly, there is nothing that comes close to the power and ease of use for Keyboard Maestro on Windows, but in my search for Windows automation, I’ve sort of come close. Macro Toolworks is a close approximation to Keyboard Maestro, but like RoboTask, its ridiculously expensive. There are some cool features, and it can do some neat things, but there is nothing about this app that justifies its $100 price tag. Cut that in half and you’ll be on to something. Macro Toolworks can do a lot of cool thing and automate tasks like opening files, launching apps, and moving windows to a specific position. It has the same kind of “triggers” like Keyboard Maestro, such as an application starting, when an application closes, time of day, and device change. 🤷‍♂️ The relevance of Microsoft Office?

I have to ask myself, what is the relevance of Microsoft Office these days? I don’t have it for my Mac, but I do have it for my office Windows 10 machine. I keep getting flyers offering Office for $30, and even at that price I ask why? Why would I waste that kind of money, especially for the Mac? I see why people get Outlook, it’s integrated with Exchange. It’s a terrible app, and you’d be better off using just about any other POP client to connect to Exchange, but I see why people use it. I connect to that same Exchange Server with my Mac and the Mail client from 2018 and it works without issue. Email and calendar items come in just fine. As for the rest, I simply don’t understand. Office had relevance 10-15 years ago. Word was at the front of word processing with its use of fonts and layout. Excel was soaring in popularity. […]
