Call of Juarez Gunslinger on Sale at Steam

I bought this game a few months back and have enjoyed the hell out of it. I’m usually not one for first person shooters. The idea of running around some abandoned building, industrial park or space station really doesn’t appeal to me. But you put me in the Old West with some six-shooters, sawn off shotguns and bundles of dynamite and now you have my interest. Gunslinger is a retelling of the Old West as seen by Silas Greaves. He’s on the path of vengeance and while sitting in a saloon he tells his story. You play along, performing the heroic deeds, deadly escapes and multiple head shots. It’s very similar to the old style arcade pop-up games where the bad guys dart out and you have to pick them off. In that respect it’s incredibly fun and satisfying. There are plenty of missions that allow you spend just a few minutes unloading your guns or string them all together […]

Call of Juarez – Nuggets of Truth

I took a break from Crime City and got back to some gunslinging with Call of Juarez. The goal? Finish off and find all the Nuggets of Truth. With the help of YouTube I found a video that gave me all the locations. I followed along just so I could read them all and get the history. That was pretty cool. I have to say, this is still a damn cool game. The graphics are just fine, the story is amusing and there is plenty of "world" to explore and shoot up. I tell ya, there is a hell of a lot of fun to be had setting up the perfect shot with a barrel full of gun powder. Or lining up the perfect head shot with the shotgun or rifle. Quite a bit of time was spent on the splatter effects. If you haven’t checked it out, this is good, cheap fun that you can jump into any time. […]

Call of Juarez Gunslinger – A Beauty of an Arcade Shooter

I bought this game the other day in the Steam Summer Sale and I was quite anxious to try out these new monitors. I’m not a First Person Shooter fan for the most part. Halo, Call of Duty, etc aren’t my thing. Not because there is anything wrong with the game, I just suck at that style of play. Call of Juarez is a little more "arcade" style and the Western theme had my interest. It only took a couple of minutes to realize Juarez is utterly ridiculous and a hell of a lot of fun! I’ve never played any of these others in the series, but that’s pretty much irrelevant. For this episode you play Silas Greaves a Bounty Hunter who tells his tales of revenge while the patrons of the bar buy him free drinks. As the story unfolds you as the player live out of the action. Just keep in mind these are some tall tales. But […]
