Back in November I picked up a copy of Scrivener and have been using it as my writing tool of choice ever since. It’s a fantastic piece of software with all the tools you need for writing without all of the junk you’ll never use. For example, it doesn’t come with Art, Tables, Graphs and an endless series of styles that just get in the way. Its perfect for letters, books, documents, journals, stories and blog articles. In fact, all my blog articles are now written in Scrivener after having retired out my venerable favorite, OneNote. I wasn’t quite sure what all the fuss and fury was about until I really sat down and tried it. For those of us who have been browbeaten by Word, it will indeed seem a little strange. But after just a day of working with it and going through the quick project tutorial, I’ve never looked back. It’s so much easier to work with […]
If you haven’t checked it out, head over to Steam and check out some of the big sales they have going on. If you’re into racing now is the time to buy with Grid Autosport on sale for $13.59 and Next Car Game Wreckfest for $14.99 and the mud-slinging, gear grinding adventures of SpinTires for $10.19. There are tons of others on sale as well. From the look of things, damn near 5,800 games have a discount going right now. If you’re looking for something new, head over there before prices jump around again.
The new version of CCleaner v5.0 is out with some new tools and a new look. I’m all for the new tools, cleaning power and performance increase, but can we please stop following the Microsoft design of making apps look like Windows 8. The Metro UI looks like the vomitous mass from a 5 year old with a box 5 colored crayons. It’s a hideous UI and people really need to stop cloning it. But that aside, the new version of CCleaner 5 is out and soon there will be a new Defraggler. I wouldn’t be surprised if Speccy and Recuva also got a new release, even if it is for the UI. With the releases come a new coupon. If you want to buy the whole suite of tools, you can get CCleaner Professional Plus, which is what I have. It’s the tools bundled together at a discount price and you can use coupon code NOV14 to drop the […]
The Black Friday Specials are coming in faster than I can read/delete them. A couple of good ones caught my eye like the entire O&O Software catalog on sale for 50% Off. That is a pretty sweet deal considering it covers O&O Defrag, O&O DiskImage, O&O SafeErase and others. These guys make some really good software not only to keep your system running smoothly, but to resurrect it from the dead if something goes wrong. O&O DiskImage is a personal favorite of mine to take snapshots of the entire drive so all I have to do is boot from the Recovery CD and restore the image. I’ve actually had to do this more than once and it’s incredibly easy to use and restored all my files perfectly. I currently have DiskImage cloning the drive in my main machine and putting the image file on a data disk. Click the link below and add whatever items you want to the cart, […]
Here’s a little Thanksgiving treat for you. Stardock is offering a pretty hefty 50% off coupon good for ALL their products. This can be used for games, individual products as well as renewals and themes. This can be used to get an ObjectDesktop subscription or it can be used to get cool programs like WindowsBlinds or Start8, programs that are really a must have to fix the hideous UI elements of the Metro UI in Windows 8. Just add the items to your cart and use STARDOCK50 as the coupon code. You’re good to go. I have Windowblinds and Start8 on my laptop for Windows 8 and it covers up that terrible UI and gives you something much better to work with. Too bad Microsoft doesn’t just stuff Windowblinds in the OS, it would make things a lot easier on all of us.
