I wrote about Conquist just the other day and now the price has once again dropped to $0.99. If you like Risk, then you need to get Conquist. And this is a fantastic price! The game is designed for the iPad so the graphics are sharp and clear. The AI opponent is good and there is a lot of replay value in this game. This is an excellent game and an excellent, so get out there and grab a copy!
I applaud every bit of success that Angry Birds has achieved with its millions of downloads and multiple platforms. However, I have never really been on board playing that type of game. Until now. Enter Trucks and Skulls. I bought this game on a whim. It had hundreds of top notch reviews about destruction and explosions. I was drawn in. And while the game is apparently an almost direct clone of Angry Birds, I ran down the battery of the iPad quite handily while playing this for several hours and dozens of levels. You know the premise; you take an object, load it onto the platform, set the angle and velocity and let it rip. This time, that object is a monster truck, bomb laden truck, gas filled tanker or some other highly volatile rig and you hurl it at a bomb laden structure as you try to demolish all the skulls. One of the many games I fired up over the break was Conquist. I got it on sale a little while ago, but haven’t had the time to actually sit down and play it. But for this weekend I spent several hours playing this one. Simply put, its Risk scaled appropriately for the iPad. You can play against two computer opponents or you can play up to 6 actual people on the same device. It features all the elements you expect such as picking your territories, building up your forces, attacking neighboring countries, gaining extra armies for entire continents and fortifying your conquered lands with extra troops. It takes a moment or two to get acquainted with the game and understand the controls. For example, I fumbled with the military cards in the beginning and didn’t understand what some of the buttons on the game board actually controlled. I’m going to have to chalk up this Thanksgiving as the best one ever! Not only was my turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, biscuits and jalapeno bread (not to mention the several pies) all perfect, but I pushed everything aside and simply sat on the couch reading books and playing games on the iPad. I indulged heavily in the Gameloft sale, picking up several new titles, and took advantage of several other sales that were going on. For example I grabbed Cogs HD, and Trucks and Skulls for some puzzle excitement to compliment the carnage of my other titles. With all this game playing, I really came away with some gems. Conquist is a great discovery (Risk style world domination), Trucks and Skulls had me cracking up, and I was laying waste to zombies in Rage HD. And that was just on Thanksgiving! Egad, the sales keep rolling in. Just saw this from Gameloft, Settlers HD is now on sale for $0.99. I’ve always been curious about this game since it seems to be some mix between SimCity and Age of Empires. There’s little people, and little munitions and little skirmishes and all sorts of exciting things. There’s some hefty price drops here… I wouldn’t be a if a few more sneak onto this list before the week is out.
