VLC is driving me mad!

I’ve said it before, I love the idea of the VLC app for iPad. Being able to copy AVI files straight to the iPad is so damn convenient and something Apple should make the iPad support natively. Sure, you can copy all sorts of TV episodes or video clips over and they do play, sort of, but I constantly have the problem where the video will stop after 5-10 minutes, every time I try to play something, for every video I try. I’ve tried movies, I’ve tried TV episodes, I’ve tried cartoons and no matter what I do the playback always hangs and VLC has to be shut down. And it’s never in the same place twice so I know the clip isn’t bad. And I watch these clips in Windows Media Player without issue. Alas, it seems some incompatibility or some other glitch is plaguing me. […]

I’ve bought a ton during this Ashampoo promotion

Ashampoo is practically giving their software away and I have to admit I have been indulging in some shopping. I grabbed another copy of Winoptimizer 7 and bought an upgrade to HDD Controller 2. And since they were so dirt cheap I also bought a copy of Snap4 and Photo Commander 8, which all totaled was about $16. Photo Commander is actually pretty good. As a photo organizer it’s actually not too bad. I need to spend some more time with it, but for $2.50 it’s not a bad purchase at all. Snap4 is actually quite good. I use a lot of screen shots for the QA process and this has a whole host of tools available. You can overlay arrows, text boxes, make highlights, […]

Ashampoo 66% off Everything and Anything

Let’s start off the New Year with some savings shall we? Ashampoo is having another sale where you can save 66% off everything and anything they offer in their online store. Quite frankly I’m partial to Winoptimizer 7 and Burning Studio 10 and now you can buy them for under $10 each. Actually, you get both of them for just over $10 with this new coupon. All you need to do is type in "happy2011" when it asks for a coupon and you will see an immediate savings. Here’s a bit of a tip though, in just about every case you can select the Upgrade price and then use the coupon to get these apps for dirt cheap prices. If you don’t already have a DVD Burning solution or you think the built in software for Windows 7 is good enough then I high encourage you to get Burning Studio 10. It’s incredibly easy to use and works very well. […]
