PCDecrapifier to help clean out your system

I have so much junk installed on my machine it’s ridiculous. I think every app is going to be the next big thing only to find out I ignore it and move on to something else. Well, now it’s come back to bite me. I have about 30 programs I want to remove and constantly going through Control Panel is driving me ill thoughts. Amidst my despair I remembered PCDecrapifier. It’s been awhile since I’ve used it and it just dawned on me it has a way to select multiple apps to remove. You can select multiple programs and it will go down the list and start the uninstall for each one. It’s still going to take a while, but it’s a hell of a lot better than having to scroll down the list and remember where you were each time. Got a lot of crap to remove? Put PCDecrapifier to work.

Controlling two computers with Multiplicity

I bought Multiplicity a long time ago and have actually used it to control 6 computers from one keyboard and mouse. I’ve never tried to play games across it. My scenario was running a Windows app on multiple machines and then uploading the returned data. For that simple it task it worked quite well. Jump ahead a year and I’m back using it again. I bought a new Dell a few months ago and using it has been quite cumbersome since I want to use both my Dells at the same time. Multiple keyboards and mice are annoying so I put Multiplicity back into the mix. I got off to a rocky start. Windows Firewall didn’t configure itself worth a damn. It looked like the ports were open, but in reality they weren’t. When I turned the firewall off everything worked fine. I ditched that and installed NIS 2012 like I have on the primary machine. That was going to […]

Making WordPress Themes with Artisteer

I just recently renewed my Artisteer subscription for the third year in a row so that should indicate how much I like the program. And I have the more expensive, yet more feature rich Standard Edition. I’m not a graphic designer and I don’t build templates for a living. I do however make a lot of templates and offer them for free. I also change templates for my blogs quite frequently. I’ve also been known to make templates for friends and make mock-ups for work. So is Artisteer worth it versus downloading one of the millions of free themes out there? In my opinion yes. Artisteer allows you to create WordPress, Blogger and Joomla templates quickly and easily. If you take the defaults and suggestions, you literally could have a new template on your site in less than a minute. However, if you get the Standard Edition you can take control of the reigns and craft a very unique and […]

Speaking of Crystal Skulls

I just had an encounter with Dan Aykroyd and the local beverage shop. He probably knows more about spirits than anyone, both figuratively and literally. Here was down here for a signing of his Crystal Head Vodka so naturally I had to go. The shop was about 10 minutes down the road and I’m a sucker for drinking liquor out of a skull. The line was massive, Dan was very pleasant and I hope the vodka is equally so. Anyway, here is my collection of spirits, all of which are signed (except the tiny ones, they are just too small) with two of them being personalized. Cheers! I had a million things going on yesterday so I barely got to say anything about this event. Here is a news article that gives some of the highlights, including several fans dressed as Ghostbusters. I actually got pictures of these guys and their car. Nice job guys! Actor Dan Aykroyd greeted by […]
