The first day of Fall

The season has changed, quite literally. Of course this means Halloween, my favorite holiday, is right around the corner. Time to carve, blow up and set fire to some pumpkins. Epic orange destruction will soon be close at hand. I’ve also discovered I need a Polaris RZR XP. That is an awesome piece of machinery. Sure, it’s a glorified golf cart, but it’s a 4 wheel drive golf cart with massive independent suspension and a top speed of 40+ mph. I should take that to the grocery store and cause some urban havoc. "If I can just find a parking space!!!"

Let us prepare for iOS6

Time to fire up iTunes and backup the devices before iOS6 comes along. It’s the not the OS that’s the problem, it’s all the software updates that come along. Sure, they get update and work on iOS6, but that doesn’t mean they keep working for the previous OS. My original iPads won’t update to iOS6 and the last time all the apps updated a bunch of them broke and wouldn’t work on the previous OS. Nothing says fun like an app you can’t use anymore. Time to make the backups…

Railroad Story

I’m a big fan of train games. I’ve had a great time playing Sid Meier’s Railroads. I’ve gotten on board with Railworks 2 and 3. And I’ve had my time behind in the wheel in Trainz. And now there is Railroad Story which works a lot like Sid Meier’s Railroads. The game play is simple. You’re given a vast area and some cash. The goal is to connect the towns and shuttle cargo between the two. You need to get the right train to the right destination as quickly as possible while avoiding collisions and having one train slow down another. Meanwhile, you need to keep the tracks in good order and repair them over time. It’s simple and a lot of fun. Build the lines the way you like and then sit back to play conductor and move the trains to the right place. You can play for 5 minutes or several hours. I really like this type of […]

Seriously, what in the hell is Apple thinking?

Now that all the fervor has died down, I checked into the specs of the iPhone 5 and the Touch 5. I’m just going to gloss over the iPhone 5 because saying that has been completely designed is a complete load of nonsense. It’s the same damn phone it’s always been, just a touch bigger. Making it faster is good, but it’s still the same phone. And that leads me to my problem. The iPod Touch is a portable gaming console. Obviously it’s an MP3 player as well, but by and large people who have one play games on it. That’s exactly what I do with mine and even how I described it before I got one. "If they made something like the iPhone just for games, I’d get one." They do, and I did. So why is it that the iPhone 5 has the much faster A6 chipset while the Touch still has the A5 chipset? Not to mention […]
