In a Herculean effort of pledging and upping the ante, Shroud of the Avatar passes the $1.9 million mark.I have upped my pledge yet again to help the cause. Damn, what a group of dedicated fans! And these guys and gals are seriously hung over and sleep deprived. It’s awesome!
It has been one heck of a night so far. I give Garriott and the whole Portalarium team credit for their work and dedication to this project. They’ve been up all night giving demos, giving tech talks, explaining the game, playing other games, doing shots and answering questions that scroll across the screen so fast you barely get to see them. There has also been a flurry of activity with new pledges and changing levels. Low and behold we’ve passed the $1.8 million mark. I truly thought that level was so far out of reach, but as the night progressed it got closer and closer. After a couple of hours sleep (work waits for no man) I see we’re halfway to the $1.9 million mark. Holy hell! There are some seriously dedicated and passionate people out there. To count down the final hours of the Kickstarter project, the Shroud of the Avatar team will lock themselves in the dev room so they can answer questions and entertain us for a full 24 hours. I have a feeling they will start asking for requests in order to get more pledges so who knows what we’re going to see. Shots for money? I think so. Full contact Rock, Paper, Scissors? It’s possible. Gameplay from the original Ultima games? That seems possible too. The pledging comes to an end tomorrow, Sunday, April 7 at 10am CST. It will be the end of 30 exciting days of sneak peeks, demos and insight into the game. What happens after this is up in the air. Wow, it hardly seems that long, but we’re 3 years and 4 revisions into the iPad. I remember that first surge of people as the iPad hit the marketplace. People were falling all over themselves to get one. I would have been one of those people, but alas, they sold out far too fast. I wanted to see what it looked like before buying and that was my downfall. By the end of the weekend they were gone and it would be several months before they came back in stock. But I did get one and thought it was a wonderful piece of machinery. It was small, sleek, vibrant and the variety of software was amazing.
