Epic Loot from the Epic Boss Thomas P Stanton – Crime City

We did another great job of kicking the @#$% out of Thomas P Stanton and achieved both the Syndicate goal of 300 kills over the 4 days and the Individual victory of 100 kills. With that I grabbed the Stanton Glasses and the Stanton Knuckles. That’s an impressive combination. Level 100 was a bit of a pain as it took 7 FA hits to take him down – a lot more than I expected. I almost immediately coupled this with the 187 Blaster from the Syndicate battle. Hell, I didn’t even know this was a reward. I was just deploying troops when this popped up out of nowhere. Seemed almost too easy to be honest., but hey I won’t complain. It has nice stats and I will certainly take the -1% Bank Deposit Fee Reduction reward. Speaking of, a lot of people say to keep cash on hand rather than putting it in the bank. That seems like a dangerous […]

Haunted Church Limited Time Building (LTB) – Building Payout and Upgrade Cost – Crime City

The latest Limited Time Building (LTB) is out and with a holiday flair no less. Back in 2012, we got the Haunted Mansion as an LTB, a pretty cool building that cost gold to buy, but didn’t cost anything to upgrade – it just took a long time for each level. It collected every hour which is great for Case Events since you always have cash on hand. In 2013, we had the Bloody Barbershop, a grim building that collected every 13 hours. Not that great for income, but a decent building to get the ball rolling. In 2014, we have the Haunted Church. Instead of going with the number 13 again, Gree decided to have 14 hour collection time which has already caused gnashing of teeth in the forums. Seems the want is for 24hr and even 48hr collection times. My hood is a hodgepodge so who cares what the collection time is anymore. Anyway, the initial cost of […]

Windows 8 – Can’t live with it, can’t get it the hell of my new laptop

My new Dell laptop just showed up. A 17 inch, fire red Dell Inspiron with a decent amount of memory and a hard drive that will work well for my needs. As I expected, it had Windows 8.1 and it took a mere 5 minutes of working with it to bring all the hate and loathing back to the surface. I hate the way it looks. I hate the way it works. I hate the way it hides things. And I hate the way panels keep popping out of the side. I can’t use Windows 8, it has to go. Well, turns out that’s a lot easier said than done. Apparently Microsoft knew Windows 8 would be the biggest piece of crap they ever pushed out the door and actually took steps to keep people from removing it. It used to be you could just pop in the disk, boot from CD and from there remove partitions and format the […]

Windows 7 running on a MacBook Pro in VirtualBox – The Ultimate Sin

I think I’ve committed several sins here. I installed VirtualBox so I could set up a Windows 7 machine. No big deal, I’ve done that dozens of times in the past, but now I’ve done it under the OSX using the Macbook Pro work just gave me. I believe I hear a torch bearing crowd gathering outside the castle walls! Actually, it runs very well, at least so far. I don’t really have anything installed yet, but Windows is quite responsive with just the 2GB of ram I gave it. I need to do browser tests and some of that will have to be done under Windows – curse you IE!! Things are working out pretty well so far. VirtualBox works exactly the same under OSX so getting a machine up and running only took a few minutes. Now, I’m not connecting it to AD or any other MS systems, it’s simply there to connect to the Internet and load […]

Not everything is different between Windows and Mac

I’m still trying to get the hang of this new environment, but I have noticed that some thing remain the same. Firefox and the plugins are still the same so that’s comforting. Roboform feels quite familiar. I don’t know why we’re using it, but Skype looks and feels pretty similar too. I have noticed there’s not a heck of a Right-Click action going on within the Mac. I’m so used to it that I get nervous when it doesn’t pop up. Is the program broken? Did it not register? No, just not available. I have to use the menus to see what options are available. Feels a little strange. Since I use ObjectDock on Windows, the Launcher at the bottom feels pretty familiar to me. I’m a little confused over the Minimize/Maximize of windows, but I’m starting to get the hang of it. And yes, having those buttons on the opposite side does throw me off a little. The Alt-Tab […]
