A closer look at Besiege! Plus video!

So I’ve had Besiege for a few days and it is absolutely awesome! It may be Early Access, but it works so well and already has so much to offer and so many things to play around with! Not only is this one of the best sub $10 games I’ve ever bought, it is well on it’s way to becoming one of my favorite games of all time. I can’t wait for the rest of the content to be added to see what these guys come up with. But even with the single "world" there are dozens of challenges to complete not to mention the sandbox. Just because you finish a level doesn’t mean you can’t go back and build an even bigger, better machine that handles the tasks better or faster. I’m telling you, there is almost endless fun in mowing down foot soldiers and archers. For example, just because you knock down a tower or wall with a […]

Swooped in and grabbed a copy of Outline for Mac for $6.99

I’ve written many times of my fondness for OneNote and since work is almost exclusively Mac based, I’ve been looking for an alternative to use. Yes, I know there is OneNote for Mac, but have you used it? To put it bluntly, it’s a piece of crap. It’s slow, buggy and the requirement of hooking into Windows Live is an utter annoyance. Plus, like so many other Microsoft services, it just doesn’t work correctly. I have Outline on my iPad and it’s a great app. Now, Outline for Mac has dropped to $6.99 and I jumped at the chance to get a copy. Normally, Outline is $39.99, which I think is outrageously priced. Yes, it’s a good program, but let’s not get ridiculous with our pricing shall we? But hey, $6.99 is more than a fair price. The install footprint is extremely small with a 38MB download. This is a fraction of what it takes to install the latest version […]

Deputy Donuts Limited Time Building (LTB) – Building Payout and Upgrade Cost – Crime City

The new LTB has literally just come out and it looks to be a pretty decent one. This time around we have the Deputy Donuts LTB which has an initial cost of $90 million, has a 12 collection time and a base payout of $564,617. The other good thing about this building is the tiny footprint. It’s only 4×4 so it’s the same size as the Pagoda everyone is fond of. And of course we have several of the previous buildings available for a limited time and a bounty of gold. This looks to be a good building to build IPH. The Level 10 it will bring in $42 million every 12 hours. If you have mods it can go as high as $70 million. The loaded out price will cost you $9 Billion and with mods you can drop that to around $4.5 Billion. I’m still on the final upgrade of the Time Clocks, but will switch over to […]

Besiege – medieval siege engines to lay waste to immense fortresses and peaceful hamlets

So I found this on Steam last night and jumped at the chance to get a copy. Seriously, who doesn’t want to build siege weapons and lay waste to buildings and troops? You had me at medieval siege engine. (As an aside, the Ballista, Trebuchet, and Siege Engine were my favorite parts of Age of Empires) Besiege is a physics based building game in which you construct medieval siege engines and lay waste to immense fortresses and peaceful hamlets. Build a machine which can crush windmills, wipe out battalions of brave soldiers and transport valuable resources, defending your creation against cannons, archers and whatever else the desperate enemies have at their disposal. I was only able to give this a quick once over, but it was wickedly good fun. As stated, the goal is make siege weapons to take out troops and towers. The first couple of levels are simply driving your machine into a building and knocking it over. […]

Kickstarter for Underworld Ascendant is on Now!

A new Kickstarter project has come up and I think it’s well worth supporting. I’m a huge fan of the Ultima series and am a current backer of Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues which is turning into an awesome game with great features and lots of exciting content. I supported that project over a year ago and we are now at the state where the Early Access edition is up and running nearly 24×7. The fun continues as a new team is poised to resurrect Ultima Underworld. And while this is being done by a different team than Shroud of the Avatar, they worked together on Ultima and have plans to have some tie-ins with each other. This will be akin to the original Ultima series in that it will be a true adventure game and dedicate itself to being an MMO. I’m really excited about this project and have already pledged my support. If you’re an adventure fan […]
