Besiege Machine of Mass Destruction!

Besiege is just awesome. It’s hard to downplay that. You get blocks, you get weapons, you put the weapons on the blocks and then plow headlong into danger. What could be more fun that that?! So here is a machine I’m quite proud of. Not because it looks cool or has some sort of innovative design. Or because it will perform some task that will make your jaw drop and look upon me with envy. It has none of those things. What it does have are spinning blades of death! Four of them! I take them and charge right into the middle of the crowd and let the carnage fly! The body count goes through the roof in a matter of seconds. In fact, this is the fastest I’ve ever cleared a level and my machine is still in one piece at the end, not the usual broken mess of parts. I get no points for style, but I should […]

Banished on sale for $5.99 on Steam

One of my other favorite games, Banished, is now on sale at Steam for a mere $5.99. That is a huge discount over the already cheap price of $19.99 and even cheaper than the $9.99, I got it for. Banished is an amazing city builder that seems so easy when you start, but becomes a juggling act to keep everything in balance. The goal is simple, you control a small group of villagers who are starting their lives over. You have simple tasks like gathering wood, gathering stone, gathering food, making clothes and building structures. But the devil is in the details. You have to make sure you have enough people to keep your village going. If people become sick or die from the cold or old age, your main resource, people, dwindles quickly. Everything can be running along perfectly one minute and then disease and the harsh reality of winter can destroy everything. It’s absolutely brilliant yet it can […]

Besiege update and behind the wheel of the War Machine

Exciting news! Besiege has been updated with new blocks that includes Balloons, Poles and Sliders. Not only that, the Mac and Linux versions are now available on Steam. That’s great to hear as we need more games that are cross platform! I didn’t get a chance to play with the new toys as I was too busy causing havoc and destruction behind the wheel of the War Machine. In case you didn’t know, it’s one of the many cool machines people have built for Besiege. You can check out videos of it in action on YouTube and you can see how it’s built in the forums. You can also download the completed machine if you want to take it for a spin. Following the tutorial, I built the main body of the rig. I wanted to see how it was done and it’s a fantastic design. It’s so simple, yet elegant and sturdy. It doesn’t use the wood blocks, but […]

Two weeks left to fund Underworld Ascendant. Over 75% funded so far.

Underworld Ascendant is so close to being funded, but alas, need a little more to push it over the top. Judging from the videos and some of the concept art, this game is going to be amazing. It could be a single player adventure like nothing we’ve seen before. The world is going to be dynamic and ever changing. It will have huge areas to explore. There will be a constant power struggle. It will have all the elements that make true adventure games great! Plus, it will hearken back to the root of Ultima and will also link into the world of Shroud of the Avatar – the spiritual successor to Ultima currently in development and another project I’m currently supporting. Underworld Ascendant is going to be great game but it needs just a tiny bit more help. It’s already set to appear on Steam Early Access and with a few more pledges it can be fully funded and […]

Besiege has been completed! Let the real building of mechanized death machines begin!

Let it be known that I’ve completed Besiege! I’ve knocked down the houses, smashed the fortresses, crushed the houses, bashed the soldiers and set fire to the sheep! And not necessarily in that order! I’ve done it all! And I’ve done it with some of the most POS machines you’ve ever seen! It’s amazing some of them even stayed together let alone accomplished the task at hand. An 8 year old with a blindfold and broken tinker toys could build something better! But that proves you don’t have to be a mechanical genius to enjoy and be victorious at Besiege. Clearly, I’m no mechanical genius or genius of any other kind. Once again, this game is utterly awesome. It is so much fun to play. And now that I’ve bungled my way through the 15 levels, I can’t wait to go back and do them all over again using bigger and better (relatively speaking) machines. I feel like the first […]
