Save 33% on Assetto Corsa on Steam – $26.65

Another Early Access game is on sale at Steam. Assetto Corsa gets a nice 33% discount and drops to $26.65. I’ve been waiting for another sale on this game. I didn’t get a copy the last time aroud simply because there wasn’t enough content in the game to justify the cost. At the time $29.95 got you a single car and a single track. Plus the game was incredibly limited. Even though it was Early Access, the cost didn’t justify the end result. But things have changed. Assetto Corsa has been massively updated since then with dozens of new cars and plenty of tracks. It’s still early days, but I’ve watched a lot of videos and this game is looking spectacular. The graphics are already impressive, the driving AI is coming along nicely and overall it looks very playable. The Run Time Limited Time Quest (LTQ) – Crime City

This is a two part LTQ where you need to defeat the NPC and collect loot items. The loot items themselves aren’t really that spectacular, but the reward weapons are pretty decent. Issues with Norton Internet Security 2014 Toolbar and Firefox 27 Update

The new version of Firefox was giving me grief about the Norton Toolbar plugin. It kept saying I needed an updated version yet NIS 2014 says it was up to date. I needed 2014.6.5.1. Turns out there was a bit more to the issue, but it’s easily fixed. Right click the NIS icon and click Run LiveUpdate. Let it download any needed updates. It might look like it’s just downloading AV updates, but it’s doing more. It may take several minutes to run the update and install the patches. One of them took about 10 minutes and made my system look like it was hung. I ran LiveUpdate 3 times before it grabbed the new Toolbar Update. I assume Check for New Version is looking for Major updates, while LiveUpdate is looking for the Minor ones. If you run into the problem while updating Firefox, just keep hitting LiveUpdate. It should eventually sort itself out.

The Art of Copy and Paste With ClipboardFusion

Everyone uses Copy and Paste, but even this simple function can be made better with ClipboardFusion by BinaryFortress. It’s an app that gives you ability to strip out formatting, keeps a history of your copied text and it can even run a search and replace on what you’ve copied. Why would you need such a thing? If you copy and paste between Word documents, HTML documents, web pages and PDF files, there’s a good chance ClipboardFusion can make things better for you. Like so many people I work in a lot of web based applications. Those applications have all sorts of formatting like header tags, odd line spacing, bold, italic and all the like . More Racing Fun with Need for Speed On Sale at Amazon

Steam isn’t the only one selling pieces of the Need for Speed series on the cheap. Amazon has several recent titles in their stable that you can grab for just a few bucks. While Steam is selling off the older assets, Amazon has some of the newer titles such as The Run, Rivals and Most Wanted. If you’re looking to round out your collection, now is a good time to buy. I picked up The Run and Rivals. I’ve never played The Run, but the gameplay videos on YouTube don’t look too bad. I’ve seen Rivals on the PS4 and while the graphics looked good, it was damn near unplayable with the controller. I hope something was out of adjustment and the game is a lot better than that.
