Richard Hammond – Journey to the Centre of the Earth

Just watched Richard Hammond’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Journey to the Bottom of the Ocean. Ok, so it’s not going to make you a geologist or give you keen insight into the unknown, but it was still pretty damn entertaining. Sure, it was presented at the level a 9 year old could understand, but what’s wrong with that? If more of us had his boyish glee at discovery and learning things would be a whole lot better. I don’t care what you say, the guy standing at the edge of the lava pit in his moon suit was pretty damn cool! And if you haven’t checked it out yet, his Engineering Connections show is pretty kick ass too!

Time for some strong Ginger Beer

It’s the start of a long weekend so I’m making some hooch. I’ve had the kit for Ginger Beer for at least a month and I’ve been really anxious to try it. The American Hefeweizen, Belligerent SOB and Outback Aussie Ale are all done, so it’s time to put this one into the carboy. This kit looks and smells really interesting. There is a bag of ginger root that gets boiled into the wort. There is also an aromatic and finishing hops. The grains smell more like coffee than anything else and after the full cooking time it smelled like a coffeehouse. This beer looks really dark, much more like a Guinness than anything else. As you can tell by the picture of it going through the mesh, it’s a big chunky. The ginger root makes it look like this beer has floaters. Massive Labor Day Sales in the iTunes App Store

  Labor Day is coming and as you might expect there are big sales to be had in the iTunes App Store. Electronic Arts has put most of their catalog on sale for $0.99 for iPod/iPhone titles and $1.99 for iPad titles. The list include titles like Scrabble, Tetris, Need for Speed Unleashed, NCAA Football, Simcity Deluxe and dozens of others. It’s not a massive $0.99 like they’ve had in the past, but it’s a good sale if you’re missing anything. Big Fish Games is have a $0.99 blowout. Every game they offer is $0.99, including iPad titles.
