Crystal Head all done up in red

So here I am playing with my skull some more. This time my little buddy has suffered a bit of a head injury and may have some internal damage. I was having some fun with different lighting effects and really thing this bottle would look awesome if I could light it from the bottom. I know they make a lighted stand so obviously not the first one to think of this. I’ll either have to get one or fashion one of my own. I think there is some serious fun to be had by using different colors and lighting. You know, with Christmas coming up, I bet I can come up with something interesting to do involving red, green and white. Who’s with me on this one?

Frozen Crystal Head

It’s not always about beer, sometimes there’s vodka. Since I have these very exciting Crystal Head Vodka bottles to play around with I have been experimenting with how they look under different conditions. This is my frozen head of vodka right out of the freezer. I chilled this down for at least an hour and then put it on the table to see if it would frost up. With the humidity we have it took mere moments to turn into a true Crystal Skull and I had an amusing time taking pictures. With the frosted surface area you can really see the detail of the bottle. Check out those slightly crooked teeth and those wide cheekbones. The bottle is an awesome gimmick, but you can tell they put a ton of time and work into crafting it. I’m still quite a fan of this vodka and think it’s excellent when you chill it down and drink it straight. This smaller […]

German Hefeweizen is all done

It’s beer time! So here we are with the latest creation, a German Hefeweizen. If you recall a few months back I did an American Hefeweizen which I thought was extremely good and easy drinking. This time around I put together a German Hefeweizen to see how they compare. Right off the bat you notice the German version has a stronger wheat flavor, but it still has that wonderful orange color. It’s a much stronger flavor than the American version and has significantly more kick that Blue Moon or Pyramid. I’m looking forward to this one aging a bit more. I think it’s a bit too new and raw to fully show it’s flavors. Since this is the homebrew version I also need to make sure this one is extremely cold to capture all the sediment. Overall though I think we have another fine beer making example.

Working through Daylight Savings

Well, not actually through it, that’s for the other shift, poor kids. I have to work Saturday from 6am to 6pm and then the same shift on Sunday. This will be first time I’ve had to actually work a shift around DST. Normally I just show up on Monday like everyone else and say how dark it is outside. At least I get an extra hour of sleep. The guys on the other shift have to repeat that hour.
