The Militarized Sleigh is Mine!! – Crime City

It finally happened! In the wee hours of the morning, with blurry eyes, I opened a Scrooge Box to reveal the 10th and final present! The Militarized Sleigh is now mine! I did it with 58 boxes and 9h15m to spare! I barely missed getting these for Christmas by a couple of hours. But I won’t trifle over such details. Since I got all 10, I will have to save this Scrooge Box Event has been a success. Nowhere near as good as I had hoped, but better than nothing, right? I take back all that mean stuff I said about you Santa! So for this event I got all the prizes plus a couple of jackets, about $200k in cash, some respect, two of the Racer Z. I’m sure there were a couple of other prizes along the way. And let’s not forget a boat load of “Better Luck Next Time”. I had my doubts about finishing this one, […]

There is no love in the Scrooge Box Event – Crime City

Santa, why have you forsaken me? I managed to get the Candy Cane Cutter, Snowflake Grenade and Reinforced Santa Mask without too much trouble. 7 Present came my way and then I hit the wall. It’s been 20+ box opens and not a single present has popped out. Dammit, I want that Sleigh!! 2 days and 2 presents left to get… The odds are against me…

I feel the need, The Need for Speed

Running over zombies has whet my appetite for some real racing, so it’s time to try out Need for Speed Most Wanted. It’s visually very appealing except for the fact that every track looks like its been soaked in the rain. Why is every road surface so shiny? It’s very distracting and causes a lot of glare. I know this is a remake, but it lacks some of the cool factor from the original. There’s not a whole lot of difference between this and Hot Pursuit. I prefer the “Jobs” you had to complete in the original and the way you had to keep avoiding the cops and finding hideouts. But hey, for $0.99, it’s a damn good game.

Scrooge Box Event – Crime City

The Crime City Events are coming fast and furious these days. And here’s a brand new one for the holidays. It’s time to kick the crap out of your neighbor, rob them blind and then open up some holiday cheer to see if you can get some weapons of mass destruction. Oh that’s a yuletide baby! I like this event a lot better since the rewards are once again at 3,5,7 and 9. I did pretty well the last time an event like this came around so let’s see how things work out. And there’s a new Christmas building in the form of a giant snowman. I wonder how that will look next to my Haunted Mansions and Gobble Buffet? Yeah, my hood is looking downright ghetto! Update I’ve already managed to get the Candy Cane Cutter and the Snowflake Grenade. Not a bad start. Still not sure about this Frosty Hideout building though.

I’ve hit the wall in Gears and Guts

I’ve made it to the last scene of Chapter 5 and can’t go any further. The power needed is simply too much. My Violet Death is maxed out at 994 Power and there nothing more to add unless I want to start buying tokens. It’s a pity because this is a pretty damn cool game. Even spending the usual $1.99, which this game is definitely worth, you won’t get enough to do a damn thing to advance. That nets you 100 tokens and you over 500 to stay in the game. While the game is good, it’s not worth $10, at least not to me. In games like this, spending $10 won’t be enough. It will just keep asking for more and more like a nagging ex-wife. Yet another really good game ruined by the concept of in-app purchases and in-game tokens. Pity. Oh well, I guess I will have to satisfy myself with doing the lower levels and listen […]
