📭 I was wrong, there is still tons of spam, but SpamSieve is tossing them away

The battle rages on! Pretty sure I’m in the lead though. Well, it was short lived. The drop in spam messages was just a lull in the action. It was nice for the 3 days it lasted, but it’s back to 40-50 messages a day. However, SpamSieve is in full swing, trashing every one of them, and working overtime. I’ve had to pull back a handful of good emails to mark them as Good, but I haven’t had to Train any as spam. SpamSieve is way more accurate than I expected. I’d rather have a few good messages hit the bin than the other way around. Trash them all and let me sort them out! 🙂 Putting the initial mishap aside, which was my fault, SpamSieve is well worth the investment. 🖥️ A new Mac Pro for every year?

The track record for keeping the Mac Pro updated is pretty terrible. The 2013 Mac Pro burst onto the scene with a radical design, new hardware, and advanced video, only to be abandoned that same year. The iMac Pro burst onto the scene in 2017 as a pro level machine to compensate for the lack updates in the 2013 Mac Pro. It supported advanced video, huge amounts of ram, and was abandoned the same year. In 2019 the Mac Pro got a new design, supported massive video cards, had plenty of upgrade slots, and huge amounts of ram, then got abandoned. While laptop after laptop got refreshes and iPads got one new feature after another, the Mac Pro sat on the bench waiting for a dance partner. With the Mac Pro 2023 sharing the same innards as the Mac Studio, will the Mac Pro see a refresh each year? Will it upgrade to M3 Ultra within the next 18 months? […]

🏙 Having fun with my return to Pocket City 🏦

I had a real want to play a city builder, but I didn’t want to get into the labors of micromanagement. I want to build stuff! There are dozens of choices, but there is an old game that jumped out at me. Why not get back into Pocket City? It’s been a hot minute since the game came out, and since I last played, but within 5 minutes I was off and having a great time. Yes, I was playing on Easy, so it’s almost impossible to lose, but it was exactly what I was looking for. I love the art style, the quests, the upgrades to the fire and police station that send helicopters over the city. I was looking for something to jump into, and after 3 hours, I was knee deep in the quests, the money was flowing in, and I was building and upgrading with total satisfaction. 💾 Copying 16TB with CopyQueue

I know I’m behind the times with spindle drives in external enclosures, but after deleting terabytes worth of duplicates and unneeded data, I need to move huge chunks of data. When you have tens of thousands of files, ranging in size from 200k to 10GB, how do you reliably move all that? Well, duh, you use Finder. Or use one of the many products with the word Finder in the name. Or, you use one of the dozen tools with the name Commander. That works when moving a few files. They’re fine transferring files from one SSD to another, but this is an older Mac Pro with spindle drives inside. There’s also spindle drives in enclosures. SSDs are awesome, but there is no such thing as a $99 8TB SSD. That’s the price of hard drives, so that’s what I have. 🥽 Little Zuckerberg dismisses Apple Vision

But that’s expected from a guy who’s losing billions because he doesn’t have a real business model, not mention his VR product is lackluster at best and fails to capture any real press or market share. Zuckerberg dismisses Apple Vision because it doesn’t conform to his version of VR. Therein lies the problem, a vast majority of people don’t conform to Zuckerberg’s vision for VR. Sure, there are people who want to jump around their living room with grips in their hands, pretending to be a Sith Lord, swinging wildly at open air, but for the other 95%, that’s dumb and has zero appeal. Personally, I find that dumb. I have zero interest in doing that. And judging by VR sales, that is consensus. Even Carmack is stepping away from it.
