Diamond Grillz Limited Time Building (LTB) – Building Payout and Upgrade Cost – Crime City

It’s to get started on a new LTB and this time it’s the Diamond Grillz. It’s a small building with a base cost of $90 million. This should be a decent building to add to your collection, but it won’t be available to some of the lower level IPH players. At the base price, it’ll cost $22 billion to upgrade this all the way, no small chunk of change by any means. At that level the payout is $43 million with a collection time of 12 hours. Oh yes, this is a high dollar building with a short collection time. Lots of money to be made and a ton to be lost if you don’t collect from it. If you have the modifiers you can even push this to $70 million per collection cycle. That’s pretty damn sweet. Now, for those with tons of cash and you have two of these upgrading you can get away with spending $20 billion […]

It’s time to clone and backup my drives

The only thing worse than a bad backup is no backup at all. Right now, I don’t have either. I talk a good game, but my system maintenance has been terrible. I haven’t been backing up the root drive on my main computer simply because it was too damn full. I have everything crammed onto one drive which means the backup would be a couple of gigs in size. Not only is that consuming way too much space, it’ll take too long to back it up and it will be impossible to restore. What’s the point of having a backup if it’s impossible to use? I’ve finally gotten to a place where I can make reasonable backups of my root drive. I trimmed and pruned everything off that drive so that only 100GB remains which includes the pagefile and the hibernation file. The final step is to move both of those to another drive. Even though I’ve had multiple drives […]

What happened to the decent golf games?

I must confess to neither being a fan of watching or playing golf. Putt putt is about the furthest I’ve gotten and I admit to enjoying it quite a bit. However, I quite enjoying playing golf on the computer. Back in the day I was quite a fan of Links and then Microsoft Golf – yet another example of games Microsoft kicked to the curb. Taking up the mantle was Tiger Woods, but due to his penchant for not keeping his club in the bag, that game has been shelved as well. So where does that leave us? Why has golf fallen so out of favor? I recently dug into the archives of the iPad and fired up the game "Let’s Golf" by Gameloft – one of their better titles in my opinion. Yes, the game is a bit "arcade" by the graphics are still quite nice, the swing meter is easy to use and it’s very enjoyable to pick […]

The CCleaner Professional Plus Bundle – What Do You Get Over Free?

So I went ahead and bought a copy of the CCleaner Professional Plus Bundle which gave me all 4 programs for $5 more than buying a single program. And, it’s nearly $20 cheaper than buying them all individually. Quite a bargain really. But I see this question written a lot, why should I buy CCleaner or Defraggler when the free ones work perfectly fine? Well, they are indeed impressive apps, so what do you get if you buy them all? First, let’s go with the altruistic answer, you’re helping to support the developers and provide funds so updates and new versions will keep on coming. So, the satisfaction of knowing you did the right then. While the programs are by and large identical, there are a couple of nice features. CCleaner has a nice monitoring tool  that determines when it’s time to take out the trash and save you some space. It offers to clean Internet files when the browser […]

The Binge and the Purge of the New Hard Drives

I’m still trying to organize my files and clean up my system since I bought a series of 5TB hard drives. To give you an idea, it took 2 days non-stop to copy all the content from a couple of different drives and consolidate it all on the new one. It was well over 3.5TB worth of files and I had to let it run through the night a couple of times to get everything where it needed to be. From there, I began to separate out my files that where littered across all the other drives. As an example, I consolidated all my music, documents and eBooks onto one drive. I put all my software onto another. All my DVD rips are on their own separate drive and all the pictures are on another still. It truly has taken forever just to get this far. But I think I’m in the home stretch. My drives are now dedicated to […]
