Boxee for the iPad?

This is something I’ll have to look into. I’m currently using Air Video, which is fantastic and easy to use. I’d be curious to see how Boxee stacks up against it.I think Air Video is the best $3 I’ve spent in the App Store.

Damn you IE!

I started a new job with a Microsoft shop and as you may expect IE is the default browser. And, as you may expect, I hate the damn thing. I kicked IE6 to the curb years ago after Microsoft had decided it didn’t need to update it anymore. I jumped on board the new Firefox 2 with tabbed browsing and dozens of other cool features. I’ve never looked back. There’s just so much I don’t like. I miss my plguins. I don’t like the layout. And quite frankly I’ve just never been that big of a fan of IE. It wasn’t bad when it was pitted against Netscape, even though I thought Netscape was in fact the better browser. But now compared to the features and extensibility of the host of other browsers out there IE just seems lacking.

Time to move into the laptop

I’m trying to move into my laptop. There is something exciting about a new computer. It’s clean, pristine and dare I say virginal. (sinner) But on the hand you’re faced with a bloated platform that can’t do a damn thing on its own and the idea of spending the next two weeks installing all the cool apps lacks a certain thrill. It’s sort of like going to see the Grand Canyon in a Pinto. But here we go, it’s time to upgrade the apparatus!! Bring on the Feedreader, the Digsby, the OneNote, the DisplayFusion, the Notepad++ and whatever the hell else I can get my hands on! I mean I’ve got a 100GB drive in this BIATCH, I can install whatever the hell I want! The sky’s the limit!

The Outback Aussie Ale

My Solo Beer Venture A few weeks back I decided to fly solo and make a beer on my own. This may not have been my best decision but I did it anyway. My attempt was the Outback Aussie Ale – an auspicious selection that turned out to be an ill-tempered child with behavioral problems. Well, it is Australian (so to speak) so of course it will be difficult and dangerous. It wasn’t hard to make but it didn’t settle in the Carbuoy. It was full of vim and vigor and soon blew through the airlock and was spewing all over the floor – much like a real Australian. I spent the next day constantly replacing the airlock with a clean one. I figured this probably contaminated it and tainted the goods. Theo was good enough to come over and bottle it with me and he thought it smelled a little off. I didn’t notice that but perhaps I was […]
