Google Becomes the Most Valuable Brand in the World

Google pushes past Apple and becomes the most valuable brand in the world with assets of $158 billion. Egad, that is an insane amount of money! Who the hell can count that high? Apple drops to a mere $147 billion. Oh my goodness, they’re nearly bankrupt aren’t they?! Seriously, that is an incredibly amount of wealth between these two companies, but that’s the tip of the list. IBM holds #3 with $107 billion and MS in #4 with $90 billion. Isn’t that a bit of irony, Big Blue has jumped ahead of their old rival Microsoft. We’re still talking billions and billions of dollars in profit, but that has got to have a bit of sting to it. You know, we’re talking about half a trillion dollars here. Damn. Google Skips Ahead of Apple as Most Valuable Brand in the World Top 100 Companies

Let’s Go Crazy Behind the Handlebars of LocoCycle

It’s time to jump on board the LocoCycle, a wickedly outrageous motorcycle combat simulator. Not combat while riding a motorcycle, but a motorcycle that is capable of martial arts combat movies.  IRIS, who recently became self aware after a heavy bolt of lightning ends up in garage of mechanic Pablo and discovers the Freedom Festival in California and takes to the open road to meet up with her like-minded brethren. Pablo, gets drafted into taking the journey with IRIS since he’s caught in the motorcycle chassis. His pant leg and boot are made of some hearty stuff and his undies must be fireproof. Thus begins the adventures of Iris and Pablo. But this is a rogue motorcycle and the G-Men want her back. It’s going to be a wild ride amigos! I have to admit, I’ve never done martial arts move with a motorcycle against a jetpack wearing nemesis. This is the intro and the first mission – which I […]

Isn’t it Microsoft who’s playing catch up?

So Microsoft says it’s not playing catch up to Apple when it comes to the mobile space and giving away iWorks is a sign of desperation. And Microsoft feels that since you can use memory cards for a Surface that it’s the superior device. Well hang on now. Microsoft may be giving away it’s Office suite with the Surface, but considering it’s not been built as a touch application that really isn’t saying much. Plus, Apple is giving away iWorks for the desktop, not just the tablet. Additionally, have you ever seen anyone use applications on the Surface without the connected keyboard and mouse? Awkward! I don’t disagree for a moment that Pages and iWorks are used by a much smaller audience than Office, but, when you start giving away an OS for free and you give away a complete productivity suite that’s not a crippled piece of code like Works, and it integrates mobile and desktop machines, you’ll get […]

A hint at the Ballmer Legacy

In January 2000, Ballmer became CEO. On August 22, 2000, Microsoft’s stock closed at $35.62. On August 22, 2013, it closed at $32.39. If you look at Gates’ last days in 2000, when the stock was around $55 a share, it’s decline is even worse. For over a decade Microsoft has largely declined in real value. Its rivals? Apple’s currently at $501.42 and Google’s at a mind-bending $871.29 a share. 5 Reasons why Ballmer needed to go Led by legendary CEO Steve Jobs, the company’s market cap value has gone from $4.8 billion back in the year 2000 to $312.6 billion today, an increase of about 6,413 percent in the past 11 years. Steve Ballmer finally stepping down as CEO of Microsoft

Well, it has finally come, Ballmer has announced he will retire from Microsoft within the year. It hasn’t exactly been the trail of rainbows and unicorns we all hoped it would be. The reign of Steve has been a rocky one to put it mildly, marked with multiple product failures as well as multiple discontinued products. Many have said this Steve simply doesn’t have the technical prowess or vision of Gates. And it’s hard to argue that. As a sidekick, Ballmer was a great marketing man. He could build hype and desire for products and built Windows into a love child of the company. But with Ballmer in charge the company lacked the technical bite of the bygone Gates era. The product offerings simply weren’t as sharp. There have dozens of blunders such as Vista, Kin and Surface to name a few. Not to mention the on again off again gaming and hardware department. And in my opinion, Ballmer has […]
