200,000 Android’s a day?

That’s got to have Apple worried. I knew the Droid was going to be pretty big, but 200,000 units activated a day is HUGE! I bet Apple didn’t expect that either. Who knows, maybe they did. That Steve Jobs kid is pretty wiley. I was talking with a buddy yesterday (who owns a Droid only because MS hasn’t come out with their device yet) and he was very excited about the sales numbers but doesn’t think it compares to what Microsoft will be doing by Christmas time. I have to completely disagree. I do think this does change things for MS who is now just as much competing against the Droid as they are against Apple and the iPhone and the iPad. I will concede that it’s possible for MS to sell 200,000 units between now and Christmas, but I really don’t see them selling and activating 200,000 units *A DAY*. Seriously, I just don’t see that. Dungeon Hunter HD and Gangstar West Coast Hustle HD for $0.99

Reduced in price from $6.99 to $0.99! And this is for the iPad version! This is a great game for the iPhone so with the extra screen real estate it should be great on the iPad. Even though I don’t have an iPad I’m still going to grab a copy of this game. Again. But you never know, it’s the big tax free weekend so I might end up walking away with an iPad tomorrow. Or at least ordering one and waiting a few weeks for it to actually show up. And not to be outdone, Gameloft has put Gangstar West Coast Hustle HD on sale as well! I got this for $0.99 on the iPod Touch so I guess I need to get the HD version right? Not a bad deal, two high dollar games dropping price down to $2 for the pair. I like it! This weekend is looking pretty good!

Wow, it’s already shipped

Hell’s bells that was fast! They’ve already boxed up my battery and sent it out. And true to their word the shipping was free. That battery weighs a ton so that’s a great deal! It’ll probably take nearly two weeks to actually get it, but I’ll live with that to save a few bucks. I’ve already got another UPS on that machine so it’s no big deal. I’m sure I can find a use for the smaller UPS. If nothing else I’ll bring it into the office. We don’t have backups for the actual desktop machines. And as I look outside, there are black clouds everywhere and the sky is rumbling. Yeah, lightning is going to hit this machine and blow the damn thing up. Wouldn’t that be ironic?

Time to buy a new UPS

My APC 900 XS has finally capped out on me. Actually, it gave up the ghost a few weeks ago when it started beeping incessantly that the battery needed to be replaced. I bought a cheap replacement and today I finally remember to get all the parts numbers so I could order the right battery. I think I got a pretty good deal. I ordered a new battery from Buy.com for $65 and free shipping. The UPS costs well over $150 so that’s a good price on a new battery and the $10-15 I’ll save in shipping is a nice touch too. APC is supposed to send me a return sticker so I can actually send the battery back to them to dispose of rather than me covertly throwing it in the trash or tossing it down the storm sewer.
